Technically now renamed Hieraaetus, but I kinda like Harpagornis better.

Also called the Haast’s Eagle, it’s the largest eagle to have ever existed. Twice as heavy as today's most powerful eagle.

Powerful eyesight, the beak the size of a butcher’s cleaver, and razor-sharp talons as big as the claws of a tiger. The Greek for grappling hooks is Harpax, and that word gave this bird’s original name.

It was the top predator of New Zealand before humans arrived. Preying on the giant Moas, but when the Moas disappeared, the eagle lost it's main food supply and soon followed.

The Māori people feared this bird as some believed it was capable of killing a human. It's unknown if this colossal bird could carry an adult, but a human child would have been no problem.

It was renamed to Hieraaetus after being found to be related to the Wedge-tailed Eagle.
