Description
The Kaitiaki are wolf-like celestial star spirits who serve under the Highest Dragon God Atarau the Dragon of the Moon. Essentially these wolves are his angels who typically live with Atarau in the spirit kingdom on the moon or in the sky around the world, each wolf corresponds with and shares a name with a star that can be seen in the night sky. There are 4 Alpha Kaitiaki that represent the cardinal directions: The White Wolf of the North, Blue Wolf of the South, Gold Wolf of the East, and Red Wolf of the West. They are very mysterious and rarely seen by mortal dragons, phantom dragons that are capable of traveling into the spirit world can learn to speak to them but they can not be expected to be clear if they even choose to say anything at all, they are often cryptic, secretive and do not feel obligated to speak of matters of cosmic importance to mortals seeing them as mere children. Though the dragons are masters of the material world, no living dragon less than one of Dragon god can even stand up to one of them. If a Kaitiaki is seen in the material world they only appear for brief moments like a vision before they disappear marking times of great importance, most often it is a warning that something terrible is going to happen. The Kaitiaki will either be seen howling and baring its fangs and snarling, the length of a howl can tell the dragon how long they have before the event that will happen and the snarl can tell them how bad it will be, they can also watch the movement of the Kaitiaki in the sky to help predict future events.
