Where do you get your references? I'm scripting a celtic epic that takes place around the end of the 10th century. Ireland had open trade with Moorish Spain, so I wanted to have that fashion influence the Irish celts. The High King's capital has Celtic, Norse, Byzantine, Frankie, Saxon and Moorish motifs to visualize the trade relationships between these cultures. (In this continuity, a couple of badass High Kings and norse settlers in Dublin banded together to fight the vikings, using llamelar armor, long ships and ulfberht steel; and later a huge Scadinavian empire called the Tidesons economically cooperates with Eire (Ireland).) This development between the norse and the celts took nearly two centuries to establish.

That's probably why byzantinum included the artist's signature and printed name, eh?

Don't be so eager to cast aspersions.  You're an artist; look before you speak.

Dear JM1776A,
if you look on rest of this Byzantium posted pictures you will see he do not mention whos the author of those many paintings he posted and in the past he was even repling like if he was their creator. He did not printed artist name because someone other done it at forum he downloaded it from or you really bealive someone as lazy to credit artworks to their real authors as Byzantium would take "so much work"with editing this with it?And if he do,why he doesnt done it at all other artworks in the same way too?Not to mention he also tried to sell them in the past...

Yes I am an artist and  JM1776A please Don't be so eager to cast premature aspersions next time and especially not in defence of someone who really don't deserve it.-)

All I know is that on the picture about which *you* commented, the artist is apparent:  Angus McBride.  No way around that.

(His name is byzantinum, by the way.  You continually misspell it as the city.  Take a closer look.)

As to my "aspersions" ... I pointed out, accurately and justly, that the artist is apparent *on the single piece of artwork in question* that I had seen.  I spoke on *no other piece or topic*.  (See below.)

By the way ... even if he hadn't posted the artist's name, these paintings are *so* famous among military historians and hobbyists that only an imbecile would post them as his, because one would be quickly found out.  (Angus McBride drew for Osprey over decades.)  In addition, interestingly enough, of the five other pictures byzantinum posted that I happened to quickly glance at (in response to your comments), *five* of them had the artist's signature on them ... and it wasn't "byzantinum."  If he or she was trying to pass them off as his or her own, he or she would have cut those off, or at least not included pictures that displayed different signatures, eh?

Perhaps he was attempting to claim them as his own.  Perhaps not.  I, however, think anyone doing so would have been a bit more careful.

I glanced at a few of your pictures, by the way.  Enjoyable style.

O.K.

I'm sure Mr.McBride work is well known at certain circles of people(he illustrated also many many things outside of Osprey as well)but if you will examine all his pics posted by this guy you will see that many people evidently don't know McBride work and attribute it to wrong person(which makes me very angry because I'm McBride fan) -even in such cases where his signature is clearly visible.

I have no doubt he did other illustrations, but ... he is almost synonymous with Osprey's Men-at-Arms series, and if not for that, wouldn't be a twentieth as well known as he is.

But my point is this:  How is that the poster's fault?  If he's leaving the signatures intact, then it's on the *observer* to realize that it's not b's work.  Don't blame byzantinum for everyone else's blindness.

At any rate ... "much ado about nothing."  Have a good weekend.

Well maybe Im too hard on Him but thats because if it was me who posted those other artist pictures I would clearly write it at completely all those paintings even at those where signature is visible and Iam 100 percent sure that I would do it.

Have a nice weekend too.

Your position is understandable.  As an artist, you're eager that appropriate credit is given.

I'm going to look at more of your work over the next few days.  You'll hear from me then, if you'd like that.  Otherwise, I'll just quietly admire it.
