No, I started tweaking the previous fractal (Aquatic Life), the idea came to me gradually.
I usually start making the fractal without a precise idea (if they aren't flowers). For this one it didn't take that much: maybe two hours for making the whole shape and 5 hours of rendering. I don't remember precisely.

Anyway, crackle is a plugin for the program I use which allows you to make many nice effects on fractals.
