Rider: Matej Beranka (no. 23)
Horse: GES Brijant

Crosby´s Grand Prix Show Jumping Clinic:

Since the morning of 22th april 2018 there was wonderful queen´ s weather with pure azure sky. Matej was watching sunrise from hotel´s terrace and thinking about on-coming day.
"You can do this!" Klára stood at the doorcase and drunk her coffé. "Don´t be afraid. I think Brijant is the best young mare you could ever have. Oh dear, you should see her face over obstacles, you should see that sparkles of concentration and countenance in her eyes. She was born to compete here, Matej."
"I know."
Brijant was the most sensible horse Matej have ever ridden. Since her five years when she was the first time under the saddle she never missed a jump. Ride her in a show-jumping arena is a delicate occassion every time.
"I know she is perfect." He sighs and looks into Klára´s face. "I am afraid about myself."
The sunrays touched her cheek and glanced in her nutty-brown hair. "You are a good rider, Matej."
"But am I good enough for her? What if I loose balance before she will decide to take off? What if I´ll cut rounds..."
"Look at you, Matej! You really don´t need any alleviations from me. Once upon a time - once you were my trainer! I don´t know a rider with better and more flexible seat and more delicate leg and hand. With your feel for her and your intuition you are going to master it!"
Gentle wind softly kissed their faces.
"I am glad that you and Anton are here with me, Klára."
"Thank you that you are here, Matej."

Klára was right. As Brijant never missed her jump, Matej never missed his feel for a horse he sat on. "We´re going to handle it, don´t you think, Lady?" Matej said and looked deep into Brijant´s brown eye. She winked.
He gently put saddle pad and saddle onto Brijant´s clean back, carefully tighted the girth and adjusted the stirrups.
"I spoke with Dick Turs, he is gratified." Anton Drozd picked Firefly´s ear bonnet up. "I think he was excellent! He leaded his horse in nice rounds and directly to jumps."
"He is a good rider and his horse, Estoy, has a perfect jump technique. I saw him at Crosby´s Clinic. I think we are a good team!"
"Yeah, bro... Ehm, have you checked the curse? I think that the white-pink obstacle with blossom threes requires a round with long direct approach."
"No if you get strong round behind the red one with chinese palace and hurry take-off."
"W-what? You are kidding! It´s so risky, you can break it, Matej!"
"Brijant is tallented enough, she´ll get it."
"What was Klára said about your analysis? Did she agreed?"
"She doesn´t know. It will be surprise."
"Aaagh!" Anton embarrassingly touched his nose. "Okay. So... Here´s going Steven, he finished his turn. You should going to warm up her, there are only eight riders apart."
"You´re right. Thank you, Anton."
Matej took Brijant´s reins and gently swung in her saddle.

She´s almost relaxed, so we need a while in middle gallop and some warm-up jumps, Matej thought. He felt Brijant´s enthustiastic trot with straight legs, she was charmed about all these horses and people around. How many sounds and colors! But she didn´t afraid, she has brave in heart. "You are a great girl!" said Matej and leaded her to the first warm-up jump. She flown by it with lightness like a fly with fire of passion, like a true firefly!
James A. Crosby with number 22 entered the arena.
"Are you ready, Brijant?" asked Matej quietly. The mare pricked up ears to hear his words. Last checks, last deep breath, They were waiting for their time to go.
And Matej feels calmly.

"Ah, Anton, look at they! What a clear rounds, what a clear jumps! They looks so concentrated! I can´t see a mistake in their ride!" Klára and Anton watched Brijant and Matej´s turn from beyond the red fences.
"Watch them now..."
The couple were approaching to the obstacle no. 8, the pink-white with blossom threes. True blossom trees cast their floating shadows on it and the grass around. Matej leaded Brijant behind the red one with chinese palace. For the one moment Matej fisted his mauleys, rise up and follow Brijant´s jump.
"I cannot believe," said Anton inaudible. "What an amazing jump! He did it!"
"Did you see?" Klára was thrilled. "He save their time! They are amazing!"
"You know, Klára, there is the thing we just need to learn - when you would like to do a sport, you need to love horses. But once when you love horses, you need to love the sport you do. And it seems that Matej can do it naturally."
