Another bio of an obscure World War One Ace, Hermann Frommherz. Frommherz started off in the Great War as a Jaeger, fighting on both Eastern and Western fronts and switching to flight school in 1915. He joined "Jasta Boelcke" and became great friends with Fritz Kempf and Hermann Goering. During his time in Jasta Boelcke, Frommherz painted his albatros a pastel blue, nicknaming it the "Blaue Maus" (Blue Mouse) However, he was injured in 1917 and did not return to active duty until the last year of the war. Hermann became an ace in 1918, achieving a total of 30 victories in a much shorter amount of time than Manfred von Richthofen. He also took over command of Jasta 27, becoming a fierce fighter for Imperial Germany.
Because of his amazing feats as a fighter pilot, Frommherz was "put in" for the Pour Le Merite but the war ended before he could officially receive it, earning the nickname "Hard Luck Hermann" from his friends. He did obtain it however, and is seen wearing it in photographs after WW1 and into WW2. Frommherz continued his service into WW2, condemning the Nazi ideology, fighting only for his country and not the party. He died in 1964 at 73 years old.
