Description And then, suddenly, French cartoons!!

Bic and Bac are my favourite characters from the show "Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea" or "Les Mondes Engloutis" if you prefer. But they are very very strange characters.

Ignoring the fact that they are magical pangolins that can create fire and live at the centre of the hollow Earth... they're still very strange. I can handle all the other stuff and not think them very strange, but there's other things about them.

They serve kind of as the comedic relief of the show, being almost always playful, upbeat and sometimes seem almost unaware of what exactly is going on around them, and yet they're both comedic relief, and they are deeply revered by the people of Arkadia and seen in an almost religious sense. It's hard to explained. They are comedy relief and very important and semi-divine.
Also, they are both many thousands of years old, and yet they behave and sound young and slightly naive. Sometimes they will suggest solutions to problems that end up being helpful, but they never show wisdom to indicate how old they actually are.
They DO however, sometimes, show some of their true magical powers. But they do this very rarely and without any real explanation or show of it.

Usually though, they just use their powers to make fire.

They also seem to have a semi-psychic connection with each other. When they are separated, they can tell when the other is close by and it doesn't take long for them to sniff each other out when they're close to each other.

They can handle themselves perfectly fine when they're split up, but if they're apart for too long they can get depressed. When together the usually talk in unison or they will finish each other's sentences. Otherwise, they'll just speak between the two of them, asking each other questions and replying by repeating the question back as a 'yes' or 'no'.

Bac is the one with the longer ears. He seems a little more talkative than Bic. But only slightly. In the english version his voice is slightly deeper than Bic's as well.

It's IMPOSSIBLE to find this show online properly ;____; I have a good chunk of them in english and all of them in French, but I'm missing some of the english episodes and the french ones don't have subtitles.... so I won't really know what is being said if I watch those missing episodes. It's not fair.

And of course, the excellent theme song;

Loved watching that show as a kid, it was one of the only cartoons in French I was able to see back then. It was quite epic, and the songs were awesome, including the Flashbic!

I wish they'd put the English version of this on DVD already. Oh well. I love Bic and Bac. They may be strange, but I find them cute. I actually have a plush Bic I found on France's Ebay site.

Oh my god, I remember watching this show as a kid and I loved the intro ;-; It was just so sad and the lyrics fit perfectly to the scene of me not finding it in my own language half a year ago. The local kids' cartoons channel aired the show a few times, but I never got to watch it all in order. It was also one of the last shows with proper local voiceovers and not just aimed at preschoolers.

Sigh, those were the days.

I feel your pain

the network that aired the show here frequently tended to show the episodes out of order, and I'm not even sure if they rver showed the first and last episode

I just compared my french episodes to my english ones. Yeah... they seem to have a very different order, except for the first and last episodes it seems.
Also, the first episode I have isn't in english, it's just subtitled, so who knows if the first episode was ever actually translated XD;; it's such a mess.
