Woah, just looked them up! So those are the fancy-looking Faber Castells XD So they kinda work like watercolor pencils but with oil instead of water? Doubt I'll be getting materials like that anytime soon, but it's interesting.

Hahah I guess you could think of it like that. Personally, I don't think you need fancy pencils to make great art. I spent 7 years just using normal Faber Castell coloured pencils and only just bought the "fancier" ones this year because I was getting bored of using the same old ones all the time.

Agreed! But yeah, it's nice to experiment with other media too ^ ^

That's great!
How do I come up with them? By drawing a whole bunch of miniature thumbnails of different poses and then put background after. Hahah, I know that doesn't make much sense to you. To give you an example: here's the process of my Aqua piece www.instagram.com/p/BKNde5zDWLβ¦
You can see in my sketchbook with mini blue thumbnails in the corner. Depending on the one I like, I make that into a sketch concept, followed by adjustments etc. and make it into a bigger clean lineart. Then all the colour etc.
To get better at dynamic poses, practise figure drawing whenever you can. 10-15minutes a day can go a long way! Don't be afraid to use references.Β I generally use a mirror and take a photo of how I want certain body parts if I am stuck.

Wow that's a lot of drafts^^
I've been meaning to ask, but how do you enlarge a smaller photo without making it look weird when you draw it?

C-Yen In reply to CrimsonSeal [2016-09-28 05:06:14 +0000 UTC]
When I am enlarging my pieces into a clean work, I scan the smaller one, adjust and fix things on Photoshop (flipping the image, find the mistakes or things that look weird) and then print it off onto a larger piece of paper. The image does get stretched and very grainy. I then trace via my window my concept sketch onto my drawing paper to get the general outlines and silhouette of my character and add details where I think needs them. I then ink everything.
You could freehand from small to big but this can take a lot of time, lead to more erasing and dirty smudges onto the clean work.
