Master Chief Petty Officer John-117, more commonly known as the Master Chief, is the legendary SPARTAN-II commando of the UNSC Naval Special Warfare Command. Operating for over thirty years with (and even against) the United Nations Space Command, John-117 is one of the most decorated war veterans to have ever lived, earning every known medal that can be awarded to veterans (with the exception of the Prisoner of War Medallion; obviously). Along with his AI companion (and confidant) Cortana, the Master Chief has saved humanity more times than he could possibly count, going up against the full might and forces of the Covenant, the Flood, the Prometheans, the Banished, the Endless and even against other SPARTAN squads like those under the command of LT Commander Locke and won against them time and time again.

The ancient Forerunners also speak of an alternative universe where the Master Chief was able to woo the human Covenant sympathiser Makee and slept with her to try and save humanity. The Liberian speaks very poorly about this “Silver Timeline” and is working to destroy any evidence of its existence.

Uh oh, another AI post by me. Hopefully it won’t get me blacklisted from the art community (even though I feel like I have with my first AI post a month or two ago haha). Like with the first AI post, if this illustration did used your artwork and you did not give it permission to do so, please comment down below and I’ll update it with the correct credentials.

Out of all the AI posts that I did for Master Chief, this one’s probably the best one that the system could generate as there’s another one with his Battle Rifle in hand and it looks like a big, long dark grey blob (although the helmet in that one looks closer to the original Bungie style than this one does). This design seems to be more inspired by the 343 redesign (y’know, the “nano-upgraded one”) but there’s also elements of the Bungie design as well in the Master Chief's armour too so I feel it’s a nice blend between the two.

Surprisingly, I’ve never actually played any Halo game outside of Halo Anniversary and that was several years ago on my uncle’s Xbox. I was (and still am to a lesser extent today) a PlayStation and PC gamer; our first console was a PlayStation 1 and our last console might be a PS5 (if I get my hands on one 😩). I still appreciate the unique story, characters and world building that Halo has compared to other sci-fi franchises and the actual good elements of game design done by Bungie with the original five games under their contract (and even join in the laughter of its utter failure in the hands of 343 and modern Microsoft). But yeah, I don’t have that same attachment I have with Halo that I do with say Portal, Call of Duty, Minecraft and Crash Bandicoot so I’m doing this more as an appreciation post than one out of sweet nostalgia. Also that Paramount show blows. The less said the better.
