Very nice work on this. It is a little hard for me to tell exactly what is going on in the background over the pond but I really like how the characters look.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure this is the first time i've even attempted a detailed background at all so....>> I'm proud of it just for that. I'll look at this again in a month and hate it XD.

That's really impressive then! Backgrounds are scary scary things. I find if you have a camera, go out and take a picture of something you'd like to use as a background, digitally trace the basic things in it you want, then go nuts painting in all the awesome!
Professional artists do these sorts of things all the time. Since YOU took the image, it is free range stock for you and no one in the professional community will be mad.
Also, Rule of Prof. Artist #017: You don't have to give away all your secrets. Just don't lie if someone asks.
You don't technically have to say: "These are all the things I sampled".
Just don't say: "OMG I'm so amazing and pulled this out of my butt!"
