Description Originally this was my contribution to the avatar comp. I have since removed it from the gallery out of principle.

If the group would still like to use the avatar, they are more than welcome.

The main challenge was to make important detail visible in such a small area. Hopefully it worked. =I

Does your Gardevoir have detached hands and feet too?

Not really.

Since I do not get male gardevoirs that often I was happy to train one and the name Rayman pop in my mind.

Also Rayman is my other favorite game.

That acting breaks the Gardevoir stereotype... The Machoke, I don't know. Looks like something a typical one would do.

Keep in mind though, that the Machoke acting feminine would be a stereotype on its own. Just because it's female, doesn't mean she has to act flower-y. She could be as tough as any other Machoke. Besides, she could be defying stereotypes aside from gender or behavior, like personality.

I never said that she had to be girly - I was thinking of something more, let's say "normal", without the amount of coolness in this.

I can't put it in understandable words, actually.

I have a male Gardevoir in my Nuzlocke team. His name is Power and he kicks all kinds of butt! And in a "skirt!"

I definitely don't like it when Pokemon are given personality based on their appearance or their Pokedex entry. But maybe that's because I like giving things my own spin. So nice to see others out there doing the same. Thanks for sharing!

I'd say there are certain things in the pokedex entries that it's good to take into account when designing a character's personality. That's the point of making the character a pokemon, after all, and it's interesting when people are able to incorporate the quirks of the species into its personality in a unique way.

I'm not in any way saying that we should be completely restricted by the entries, just that it can be frustrating in some instances if people take defiance of the pokedex too far "just to be different", without adequate explanation.

Yes, I agree. There is a too far, but I'm never one for liking limits anyway. I do things my way because I can. Heh heh.

I personally like limits - you can work within them in more ways than you'd think, and without them things can become out of whack to the point where it's not even interesting anymore, just ridiculous.

For example, if someone took a pokemon like bidoof, which is stereotyped as dimwitted by its abilities and appearance, and made it determined to overcome the simple nature of its species and become more intelligent and insightful about the world, that's great.

But if your bidoof is randomly able to use human speech or has an IQ of 5000, there'd better be a damn good explanation for it. That's all I'm saying.
