Description I occasionally get the urge to draw horses. They are just so magnificent.
Too bad I haven't really been around horses, so I don't know their proportions or anatomy that well.

Also used some animal anatomy books to try to figure out those bones and muscles.

Yep, completely traditional and quite large too (90x95cm) - I kinda wish I did work digitally more, wouldn't need so much storage space.

how'd you get such a crisp image of it? got a huge scanner?

Photographed it outside in good sunlight. I don't have the best camera or a tripod, so the super sharpness comes from resizing it in Photoshop with the "Bicubib sharper" setting. It got perhaps a bit too crisp, though, I still need to learn to edit my photos better.
