• Hunter’s POV •
The cocktails must have knocked me out hard last night or something, I never once slept in this late before. It was already so late in the day that Cadence was already at the stable warming up before the show. I rushed down to her after grabbing a small cup of coffee.
When I got to the arena she didn’t seem too happy when I approached her, she had her ‘I’m pissed but need to work’ face. When she finally saw me after 5 minutes she walked Phantom over to the side of the fence. “About time you woke up,” she said snarkily with a smirk. I simply chuckled it off, knowing she was just being a smartass this morning.
What I had to ask next made her smirk fade away quickly.
“May we talk in private before you start?”
We stood in the grassy patch, just outside the large arena to watch as we talked with the hot sun hitting our faces. “I wanted to talk about last night,” I started but was instantly given a loud sigh from Cadence. “Do you hate me for kissing you?” I asked her.
“Hunter, if I hated you I would have gone back to Dundull before you woke up.” She replied to me, which was honestly shocking to me. “So do you like-”
“Hunter,” she cut me off, speaking louder than she has ever done. She looked as if she was struggling to get her words out.
“Yes, I do like you and I am willing to date you, but if you pull anything stupid I’m going straight back to Dundull and never going near Winterdale. I wanna make this work between us, I just don’t want to get hurt again.” She explained to me, almost in tears. I looked up at her, her face was red, unclear if it was because she was blushing or trying not to cry.
