Description

With the ground thawing and the showing season approaching, I took Tigger out for a little ride at Aaron's ranch. Tigger is an energetic 5-year-old Quarab stallion. I purchased him from Sky Legacy Farm when I wanted to try my hand at eventing, which was not my strongest discipline.

I still enjoy going on trails with him and jumping over whatever random obstacle we can find throughout the trails. I have no plans to show him in English anytime soon. Even now, the English showing world scares me. It's not as relaxed or laid-back as the Western world is known to be.

"You still have that English muffin?" Aaron startled me when he yelled from beyond the fence while herding a few cows. "Of course I do, I can't get rid of him," I said, annoyed that he thought it was funny to bring up such a question.

Tigger stood in the middle of the arena, staring at Aaron, while we watched him and a few other barn hands herd some young calves into the arena. Tigger, curious about the cattle, approached them and sniffed their soft winter coats. It wasn’t long before his mama's cow instincts kicked in when he discovered he could push the cattle around.

We followed one of the cows, keeping a safe distance from it in case Tigger or this fresh cow chose to be silly. "Look at that English boy go!" Aaron laughed as he watched Tigger perk up and canter after the cow.

With the stallion's fluffy ears perked ahead of me as he trailed along, I couldn't help but laugh quietly. "You should switch that stallion's career," Aaron said as I halted Tigger next to him and his black stallion, allowing the cow to return to its herd.

"You think so?" I chuckled as I questioned him.

"Hell, yeah! He shares his dam's love for cows; you should put him in some boxing events." Aaron explained to me, and it wasn't a horrible idea. I am all for horses trying new things, therefore I see no reason not to try.
