I love your pet name for him.

I posted an analysis on Reddit I'm going to copy and paste here.

"Weiss's life has been about her legacy. She has fought and trained to not just uphold her family name, but save it. She has put her all into this fight, has dedicated her life to this singular goal.

And she just failed.

Papa Schnee didn't take away money or prestige, Weiss has shown she doesn't care about that. He's taken away the thing that gives her life meaning, he's taken her purpose and crushed her dreams. More importantly, he took the most powerful tool for good she was going to have, a multi-million dollar world shaping corporation. She's lost her friends, her school, and now this.

Weiss has hit rock bottom. And the great thing? She decided to fight back."

I don't feel Weiss is better off, but I adore how she's too tough for this loss. It's what inspired the title and why she's my new favourite.

I also don't think Weiss will accept an apology, if one is forthcoming. These people need to be removed to save her family name. I could see her becoming the Schnee hero and using the PR to force her father and brother out, but I couldn't see them changing.

I completely agree. Like I said, Weiss's father can't take anything more away from Weiss, so it's only right that she fights back. Unless she's planning on challenging Jackass to a duel - which he would never agree to - there are zero reasons for her to stay in Atlas at the moment. She wants to save her family name, but she can't do it as a prisoner.

I definitely didn't mean that Jackass would change. He would have to apologize to a war hero if he didn't want everyone to hate him, but it wouldn't be a sincere apology. We still know very little about Whitley, so there might still be a chance of him coming around. I have no idea if he can fight or not, but if he will have to take part in the upcoming war, he just might learn some important things his father never taught him. That is, if he and his father won't fight on Salem's side.

The thing that interests me about Jackass and Whitley is that the Schnee semblance is hereditary... So Jackass probably doesn't have it. Which gives Weiss a huge advantage, but also makes Whitley a much larger threat.

And I could totally see Jackass going the way of Torwick, where he knows they've lost so he joins the winning team. Or, since Salem turns us against each other so we don't know who to place the blame on, he already does work for her and that's why he's so opposed to Ironwood. That's why Winter joining the military is "Switching sides". We could have a whole volume of Weiss taking back her family's company.

Well, you dashed this one off in a hurry; proportions are blown to hell. If you re-did it with the same atmosphere and shading overall it would be excellent. That being said, yeah, it's a great reaction to #7.
Papa Schnee thought he punished Weiss, but instead he has set her free. (Snow White was a cast away Princess after all. ) In that respect your pose for wqeiss is spot on; she is going to take her sword and her Semblances and go fight the good fight with her team.

Jacques is a slimeball, but do guys really think he wouldn't be prepared for a battle with one of his wayward children? After all you don't get to where he is without dirtying your hands.

Plus he has a superiority complex the size of Atlas and is an absolute perfectionist... that would likely apply to combat skill.

Weiss will still find a way to beat him, but she'll be in bad shape at the end of it.

Cadhla182 In reply to GunMasterG3 [2016-12-31 17:06:03 +0000 UTC]

What interests me is that, because he married into the name, he probably doesn't have the Schnee semblance. I feel like Whitley will be the real threat if it comes to a fight.

And I hope Jacques isn't an incredible fighter, the kids keep getting beat by the adults. So far everyone we've met outside the tournament has beaten the crap out of 'em, except Torchwick and Junior. It's starting to feel less like the bad guys are impressive and more like the kids just aren't very good.

True, but these are our heroes. Spider-Man will get beat, but he also gives a beating. Neo, Adam, Tyrian, all of them barely broke a sweat. Cinder had to work to beat Pyrrha, no one else had.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GunMasterG3 In reply to Cadhla182 [2017-01-01 08:42:59 +0000 UTC]

Pyrrha was also a perennial champion and prodigy. Also Cinder while skilled usually relied on others (Mercury, Roman, Emerald, Neo, Adam, the Fang and Romans' gang) to do her fighting for her. She was both rusty and tired from her duel with Ozpin.

it was kinda like Kylo Ren vs Finn and Rey to be honest.

As for Tyrian... this was the first real combatant they fought in 8 months. And even then Ruby, Nora, Jaune and Ren combined managed to keep Tyrian on his toes for while. He had to get cute to beat them. Raw strength wise he couldn't beat them.

Not too mention after Ruby sliced off his tail barb Ty could barely stand the pain was so overwhelming. I call any battle where the opponent leaves mutilated a beating.

And really this was his only chance. He will not do near as well next time. Time to see what Hazel or Adam could do to them.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cadhla182 In reply to GunMasterG3 [2017-01-01 16:10:25 +0000 UTC]

I have to disagree about Tyrian. He beat the kids without a problem. Raw strength, he CAUGHT a charged hit from Nora. Qrow showed up and almost beat him on his own, Ruby just managed to tip it in his favor.

Also, while he was their first human combatant, they have been fighting in the wild for months.

But that's missing the point, it's a storytelling issue. If every adult can just whipe the floor with the kids, then the kids aren't special. Which is why Junior and Torchwick worked, both lost fights. Tyrian is like one of the homunculus, I can see him being able to beat them, but Jacques? He's a businessman, let Weiss win. It can be hard, but the heroes need a win without grown up intervention.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cadhla182 In reply to GunMasterG3 [2017-01-02 07:54:56 +0000 UTC]

I mean, a lot was explained but not much really happened. It was a good set up episode. I feel like the recap of last volume went on a little too long before we got to the new stuff, but I liked the new stuff.

And Sun has never been suave, he largely just hasn't cared about sounding intelligent. It's kind of part of his innocent charm. He was surrounded by friends, so he just... did. The only thing he's struggled with is Blake, but even she seemed to like him, so it didn't matter. Now, with Blake's parent's, he does care and he's noticing what he's saying and Ghira not liking him is just making it worse. He's overcompensating and in doing so drawing attention to his mistakes and making them worse, which is causing him to act stupidly to overcompensate even more. You can see the moment this switches when he tries to compliment Blake and Ghira calls him on it. He didn't even notice what he was saying until he was shown he fucked up, then backpedaled waaaaay too far.

Plus I don't think he was spying long, I think he genuinely went to tell Blake something and didn't want to interrupt the moment, then curiosity got the better of him and... crash. He fucked up, but he's trying.

GunMasterG3 In reply to Cadhla182 [2017-01-02 09:52:56 +0000 UTC]

I liked a lot of the explanations, ESPECIALLY about Qrow's semblance. I also like that Jaune now has a spine. He never would've had the balls to call out Qrow like that before this.

It explains why Qrow drinks so heavily to start. Also I find the fact that Raven is watching them so closely interesting. What's her motive for wanting the Relics? I also get the feeling that her and Tai had a bad falling out.

My guess is because Raven wanted to raise Yang HER way, amongst the tribe. But Tai wanted nothing to do with them... and had Qrow and Ozpin backing him up.

But also the fact that Jaune has that spine isn't the greatest sign. He's the most unstable of the group right now. I could easily see him going rogue if he sees an opportunity for vengeance.

Cadhla182 In reply to GunMasterG3 [2017-01-02 16:47:40 +0000 UTC]

I like how Jaune was immediately "He was using you as bait." He's the strategist, he got it right away.

And my theory for Raven leaving Yang is that she refused to raise her among murderers after having heroes for friends and family, but those murderers needed her.

GunMasterG3 In reply to Cadhla182 [2017-01-02 16:54:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. Pretty much what I'm thinking. She's the one voice of sanity left. I do believe she may try to reconcile with her husband and daughter at some point, probably after pulling another big damn heroes moment.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cadhla182 In reply to GunMasterG3 [2017-01-02 18:07:23 +0000 UTC]

I don't think Raven is the voice of sanity. Everything about her conversation with Qrow reminded me of a caged animal. When called out on leaving Shion dead she tried to justify it. I feel like she's horrified of Salem and that's causing her to be "practical" to the point of no return.

And I kind of hope she doesn't try and reconcile. I could see her having closed the door on that life, what with the way she spoke of Yang to Qrow. I could see that life coming back and conflicting with her, but I king of hope she rejects it. I really want to see Yang have to deal with her mother, the monster.

All of that hinges on the "practical to the point of no return" theory, though. I really hope she gets more screen time this volume.

GunMasterG3 In reply to Cadhla182 [2017-01-03 00:12:54 +0000 UTC]

Me too. I actually have a theory that members of the tribe are going to abduct Yang and possibly Tai for one simple reason; the "Savagery" she displayed at the Vytal festival appeals to them and they see someone they can easily influence. They really don't care about Raven at all, all they care about is their continued survival and *their* way of life.

They don't really care about whether a person is weak or not; they have just developed a taste for killing and stealing comes easy to them.

That would be a serious blow to both. I'd love to see that.

Cadhla182 In reply to GunMasterG3 [2017-01-03 00:29:15 +0000 UTC]

The tribe is just so full of potential. I feel like Qrow is going to bring RNJR to the tribe to help him, and Raven's going to be integral in bringing the team back together... But I'm also in the "She killed Ren's parents" camp, so we gonna get some dramaaaaaaaa.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

GunMasterG3 In reply to Cadhla182 [2017-01-04 05:10:32 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes, let the drama begin. For better or worse.

I still think Jaune is going to go rogue at the end of the season or towards it. Why? Because if those relics are as powerful as Qrow claims them to be, maybe they could bring back the dead.

And that of course would change everything. He might just take Havens relic and run then, determined to get all of them somehow so he can bring back Pyrrha.

I really hope Raven isn't running scared from Salem. The strongest being the biggest coward is a horrible cliche. The tribe being gutless cowards I'd have no problem with.

It wouldn't surprise me. Might be pretty cool

Cadhla182 In reply to GunMasterG3 [2017-01-03 00:55:20 +0000 UTC]

I don't think she's running, but I do think she's scared. You see it in our world all the time, people afraid who have the fight response instead of flight pick up weapons and find people to blame. Maybe that's why she left Yang and Tai, she felt the civilized life was making her week.

I'd be really disappointed if she was just running.

GunMasterG3 In reply to Cadhla182 [2017-01-03 01:23:24 +0000 UTC]

Maybe. I also really don't like social Darwinist villains, they're rarely ever done well. I'll be plenty disappointed if that's the case. I actually believe she's the Summer maiden, which would explain a lot, ESPECIALLY if she became the maiden while pregnant with Yang. Yang's (and yes Ravens as well) powerset seems pretty maiden like (catches fire).

Hopefully she's just very hardened and cynical because she's been betrayed by people she thought she could trust (Ozpin would be a great candidate for that) and has taken a better the devil you know stance ("Yes they're murderers, but at least they are honest about it and don't pretend to be something they're not!")

Actually he doesn't strike me as someone who has bothered with combat training, as he said "We have people for that" also I doubt it will be a direct fight, he didn't even bother to take her scroll or her weapon, so it's through the window and give Jacques something else to worry about, like all the files Weiss has been collecting that provide proof of poor business practices and unfair treatment of employees, or the mines being inadequately protected or failing to meet safety standards, she has no reason to keep them hidden anymore, she might as well release them to the public, it's all she can do to fix her grandfather's company now or at least his legacy.
