Penny was too pure for Remnant. If they rebuild her, she will most likely be a whole different person with no memories of Ruby. Can't wait to see how Ruby will take that... The drama should be interesting.

Maybe not. Everyone saw the original Penny get destroyed, so I don't think they would make her look exactly the same, unless that model has some deep meaning to her creator. Penny did call her creator "father", so it's possible that he was trying to recreate his dead daughter, but would they allow him to use the same model just for that? Penny was supposed to be a secret weapon, after all.

That's exactly what I was thinking, I assume the scientist who made her made someone important to him. Also the world seeing her just means that Ironwood wouldn't need to hide her, everyone already knows, so her role could be more public and very different than OG Penny's.

I had an idea during vol 3 that I never drew with just one of the Paladins showing up and saving Ruby and going "Don't worry! I'm still combat ready!"

That army of winged ape Grimm will have to make an appearance, which will no doubt inevitably occur after Tyrian and Watts have prepared the way for their arrival and assault. Team RWBY + friends ought to be able to lend a decisive hand, but what if they are prevented from doing so in a timely fashion? Cinder and Neo may not be able to help secure the victory for Salem's army, but they can still contribute by stealing (or at least attempting the theft) of the artifact, and delaying Our Heroes long enough for tragedy to occur. Penny's appearance in 2.0 form & assistance might be a key factor in events...

Qrow actually implied it when Pyrrha was first taken to the vault:
Ironwood: For the past few years, Atlas has been studying Aura from a more scientific standpoint; how it works, what's it made of, how it can be used. We've made... significant strides. And we believe we've found a way to capture it.
Qrow: Capture it and cram it into something else.
in other words Penny's Aura came from someone, she was the test article for the machine they tried to use on Amber and Pyrrha...

Hmm, on further review the story dropped us a clue, which got passed over in the excitement. Fits in well with a pattern of Atlas doing the wrong thing for the right reason, which I do suspect will be a theme this volume. It would be interesting to know more of what was done, but the forthcoming season probably won't allow for much further detail. It'd be nice just to have Penny 2.0 show up to get Team RWBY out of a tight spot, and then cause all sorts of excitement and oh-the-feels moments.
