Frakking amazing. The colors, pose, texture... all... instantly a favorite.

Cado! Remember me?
I thought I was the only one who couldn't sleep until they finished certain works. That happens to me alot actually, and it's often maddening. However, when you just know a pic will be satisfying, you just want to keep on going-while your lids ache and your body screams sleep. I can seriously relate.
I like this one alot, for the construction and the great expression, but the fingers are my favorite.

Yarr! I remember you. I do watch you and you have a very distinctive style, so of course I know who you are. ^^

That's exactly how I end up sometimes. Sometimes I can sleep, but I don't want to because I know the idea will be worse after a night's rest. I'll have forgotten details of the idea, or I just won't have the motivation to finish it.

Thanks for the fav.

Well, it is my art, but I didn't know it was up there. I was worried someone had stolen it and claimed it as their own, but they're linking back to me... so I guess it's free advertising! Then I guess it's okay.

Thanks!

Glad you do! After I added the spine, I decided it was worth posting. Kinda adds a twist to it. Would've been boring without. :/

Absolutely brilliant <3
I loooove th spine in the back and its long fingers are great.. oh and the colours.. I love it when people put together those weird creamy colours, with strong, yet very subtle colours.

Cado In reply to Shaaae [2007-07-17 17:03:08 +0000 UTC]

It took me a few tries to get those colours working together. It's funny how a simple and small change in shade can make the picture lose balance, and make it look absolutely ridiculous. X:
Thanks!

.. hence why I don't do digital art. It actually requires patience, which evidently I have none of

Cado In reply to Shaaae [2007-07-17 18:50:39 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's not that time-consuming when you know how to use all the tools in digital art. Some consider it cheating when you (fx) change the colour tones after the drawing is done - I just consider it the way of digital art.

That being said, it takes a long time to learn all the shortcuts and when to use them. So I guess it ends up being time-consuming after all.

Shaaae In reply to Cado [2007-07-17 21:34:37 +0000 UTC]

I've tried wayyyyyy too many times.
Besides, I don't have a tablet, and I'm just not skilled AT ALL with rolling a mouse across the pad, so I sort of just gave up.

Cado In reply to Shaaae [2007-08-08 13:59:30 +0000 UTC]

I've done it with a mouse... or I tried to at least, so I know what you mean.

I think it's utterly pointless without a tablet. My tablet saved my digital art, along with my wrists, and also my patience. I wouldn't have any of those without it.

I like its expression.... it's like an "I see" expression or "I'm seeing" (afterall, it must be because of that the deviantion was called "the Comtemplator")
the hair-almost-like-little-spines is awesome and the spine makes me wonder ^^

It caught my eye for some time, until I finally "got" the drawing, as in, liked it more than the others. the position, the face, the hand, the spine, they make this good.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cado In reply to Sternfuhrer [2007-07-05 20:42:00 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I like this one, too, if I dare say so. The theme isn't remarkably new (think I've made something like this in my gallery before... somewhere), but I feel this is more complete than my other pieces.

Thank ye for teh fav! And the kind words of course.

"even if you're tired the inspiration keeps you awake."
I know this too well. You can turn around and pull the blanket over your head but it just won't leave you alone.

I like the colour cheme - the dark figure and the light background. Great contrast.
The mask-like face is a bit unsettling but it fits the painting well.

I'm always afraid I'll forget what I wanted to make when I wake up again... and not being willing to run that risk, I often get out of bed and do a quick sketch, and even some notes. It's just very bad when it's at 2 o'clock and my body wakes up again by standing up. x)

Thanks! I did want it to be a bit... unsettling, as you put it. I'd rather have that than no reaction at all to my art. (;

novalight88 [2007-07-05 16:57:19 +0000 UTC]

i like it! but is there a specific reason the spine is visible? (or just cause "it looks cool"?)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Cado In reply to novalight88 [2007-07-05 19:56:33 +0000 UTC]

Well, partly because it looks cool or else I wouldn't have included it of course. Hehe. But also to make this alien... robotlike creature have a basic human aspect. A contrast between the sterile face and what's really on the inside.

But this is post-creation musings... I don't think so much when I make things, rather after. So you can put your own meaning into it if you want.
