Description Just a quick sketch I did in memorium of Erza Chatterton, aka EPhoenix...and creator of Ahab Wheathoof, the Old Rancher.
I, of course, did not know Erza, but as a WoW player, everyone knew his story...in short, the poor little guy had cancer, and Make-A-Wish got him to Blizzard HQ to make a new mount, a new weapon (a bow, his main was a tauren hunter), and an NPC questgiver in Mulgore, Ahab Wheathoof. Here are the details:

On October 20, 2008, he lost his battle. It was very touching to see the amazing flood - no - tsunami of support from the entire WoW community. We're not ALWAYS assholes... ^_^;;
Rest in peace, Erza. May your hits always be crits, and all your loots epic up above.

Just read about Ephoenix today while lurking WoWwiki. Never knew Ahab Wheathoof was created by him.

Rather sad what happened to him. D:

Rest in peace, Epheonix. May the Earth Mother guide you always.

Its good to see blizz gave him the very thing most WoW players can only dream of rather than just giving him a tour or an epic item or two.
R.I.P

Yep, I heard his story. Poor kid, but at least he could make a beautiful mark on World of Warcraft history forever. This is such a touching story. RIP Ezra.

Oh wow. I remember reading this article a while ago. I had no idea he passed. I knew he was the Tauren Quest-giver, and I loved doing the quest. I had NO idea he MADE the Ashes of A'lar... I didn't even know he made the mount, but I knew he made the crossbow.

Rest in Peace buddy. May the Titans welcome you to the Pantheon.

Wow...I learn something new each day. Breaks my heart when I hear such stories. But it bolsters me up as well to know that this kid...was able to live his life the best way he knew how. And its great to know that such organizations are out there to grant these kids such things.

Rest well Erza...in the arms of the Lord.

This is really, really sweet.

Man, I actually cried when I read some of the threads and things dedicated to him when he passed. And did you see the new Thunder Bluff elder? Elder Ezra, complete with a Phoenix hatchling pet.

Very nice picture and I LOVE the final line. Also, the weapon he designed was a crossbow titled "Merciless Gladiator's Crossbow of the Phoenix." In the item description it even says "Finely crafted to Ephoenix's specification." :3

Ahh, ok. I know he designed a mount, too. Did you get the weapon?

Oh, dude! He made a mount? I'm gonna have to look up a pick of it.
No, I don't have the weapon, yet. I'm working on it, though.

Yup. It's an Outland flying mount...a Phoenix. If memory serves me, it's a SUPER SUPER RARE drop (maybe....0.1%) from when you fight Kael'thas in....muurr....I think it's in Tempest Keep. It's very pretty; WoW Wiki it.

Yup. Apparently, when he lost his ability to walk, he started playing WoW with his Dad...he loved the game so much that the Make-A-Wish foundation ported him over to Blizzard, where he dictated to a game designer what he wanted. The mount is a one-of-a-kind, and the bow was something like 'Bow of the Phoenix.' Don't quote me on that.
