This is Franklin the day I found him on the beach and took him home. It's been almost 7 months since this photo was taken, and he's as big as my palm now, but this is just such a cute photo that I had to show it.

oh wait, I lied, its only illegal in georgia, kansas, maryland, minnesota, oklahoma, ontario, vermont, and west virginia. Most other states you just need a permit, or nothing at all... I'm in VT so I assumed it was illegal anywhere

My Pongo was even tinier when I bought him. Now he's bigger than a plate and it's so hard for me to take care of him. ;_;

I'm hoping Franklin is indeed a boy because I hear the females grow to be twice as big as the males. I don't know what I'll do if he gets as big as a dinner plate.

Actually the females don't always grow... Bindi stopped growing and she is half as Pongo, altough she is 11 years old too. Someone told me that in captivity they may not develop properly, poor darlings. I suffer so much for my turtles. I try to feed them properly and offer them fun things to do, but they're still in captivity. :<
