Description First animal drawings I've done in a while - these are marsh harriers (Circus aeruginosus), drawn from a selection of my own photos taken on Jersey.

This is my entry for =Birds-Club 's "native birds" contest, so here's the information for that:

Eurasian Marsh harrier

I chose these birds to draw because they're quite rare and consequently taking photos of them was a rare privilege.

I think it would be a strange person who didn't find these birds utterly breathtaking, so they're very much a loved bird in the locations they can be found in the UK.

As I say, I find marsh harriers stunning to watch - their power and grace is amazing.

I think the most specialised of the harrier's skills that I've observed is their ability to avoid cameras...

Wonderful sketches! I've never seen a harrier (I don't think - often hard to tell seeing something very briefly from a distance)
