The one in the middle could be one as well, Julian. *smile* Thank you for noticing all the details!

Yeah...I'm fond of that retro-fifties-scifi look to space gear. And from the look of your work, you are too. *smile*

Thank you, jOey. That's exactly what I was aiming for. Lighting a fire in the imagination of the viewer! To lay the groundwork for a story in the minds of those who can take such an image and let it lead them on an adventure of sorts. Glad you like it!

Thank you, Eonni! There were several key components that needed to work together effectively (including the tree-like alien to the right). Fun!

Brown colours in the black? I believe you may be referring to other pieces in my Gallery (not "Discovery"). If so...the brown colour you see is actually a chemical reaction. Those drawings were done on a special paper called Duotone. It had a shading pattern imbedded in the surface of the paper. A developing fluid is painted on wherever I wanted the dot or line pattern to show. The patterns often had a brown tint when it developed...but it looked grey when the illustration was printed in the book. When I scanned the original drawing and uploaded it into my Gallery, the brown colour was retained.

Ahhhh! I took a closer look at the "Discovery" image and there does seem to be a very slight brown tint to the pencilwork. That would have to be a trick of the screen trying to interpret the shades of tone layed onto the paper by the pencil graphite, because the original in strictly tones of black and greys. So I would agree that it's your screen which might be interpreting this effect even more than mine. Interesting!

Thanks, Kitty. I enjoy full-pagers like this because it allows me to pack in the details. Makes for a better story! (Heh...you said "pipes and stuff")

I wish I could put a lot of detail in my things. But I have trouble with like value and perspective and it just sort of looks like a jumbled mess.

Ya know what, Kitty...I'm sure that you would do fine with detailing any image that you felt strongly needed that kind of effort. Your style is fine as it is...and your dedication to experimentation and self-expression is quite evident. So worry not! Furthermore, it's interesting that you mention perspective. It's a good skill to work on because it becomes a useful tool when you want to twist the rules to add a certain effect to an image. I think I was able to warp the sense of perspective in "Discovery" and cause the viewer to feel a little uneasy...and off-balance. Weird perspective is fun!

I like it. I have trouble manipulating perspective as much as I want and it's hard for me to put background and foreground things in the same picture without having the perspective look off. I even tried to do that in the drawing that I just finished, the Echo one, but it was more conceptual anyway.
