This is Jake's best friend and roommate, Maya. I mentioned her in Jake's reference.

I've had her designed sketched for months and I've been developing her and Jake a lot on my own time.

Now that she's finally a real character, she deserves her own ref.

Personality:

Maya is almost always in a cheerful and positive mood. Or at least she tries to always be positive. She finds no reason in being upset if there's nothing to be upset about, so she's not often in a negative mood. She enjoys cheering up people who are upset. Doing this would often lead to her listening to their problems, but she's a very understanding girl so she would try to help out that person in anyway she could. This links directly to her friendship with Jake, who Maya would often attempt to cheer up with varying degrees of success. Aside from that, Maya will always try to have a smile on her face even in the toughest times.

Brief Bio:

Maya was born through two drunk people at a party unintentionally having unprotected sex and ending with the girl finding out that she was pregnant weeks later. She didn't want to go through an abortion though, so she ended up giving birth to the baby and putting her up for adoption. From there, Maya grew up in a foster home with a few other kids. Among those kids was an orphan named Triston who she became like siblings with. The two grew up in that foster home together until they were both 15 and were finally adopted together by a single woman. Their new mother owned a boutique and, though she still treated them like her children, she mostly used them as models for her new outfits. Maya's life didn't change too much more from then until 9 years later, when she met Jake at a bus stop. She thought she looked upset so she tried to cheer her up. Several weeks later, after Maya kept on running into her and making conversation with her at the same bus stop, Jake eventually opened up to her a little. Maya completely understood her problems and said that one day, she'd help her fix them. They only became closer friends from there and eventually roommates. Maya still visits her mom and brother almost every day since they don't live very far apart.

Facts:

- Maya's mother was the one who sparked her interest in fashion modeling.

- Triston and Maya may not be related biologically, but they already look and act fairly similar to one another.

- Maya loves cartoons and anime. When she's not with Jake, you'll pretty much always catch her watching anime.

- Since Maya helps Jake so much with her problems, Jake pays her back by letting her do things like drag her to anime conventions. Maya loves it.

- Maya's mother is fairly rich, so Maya is able to help pay for a lot of the stuff their apartment requires. This keeps her and Jake on a low stress level.

I really hope most of the information in her bio is accurate, cause most of the research I did didn't help much at all.
