The recent source code leaks of various SNES and Nintendo 64 games has lead to some quite interesting discoveries... From uncrompressed Mario and Starfox 64 voices and early Yoshi designs, to finding out that Luigi was actually in Mario 64 at one point.
The most interesting thing I've found (besides all the Super Mario World stuff) was a prototype of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island that was found within the leaks. Very interesting, as its almost completely different from the final game. One of the major differences was the Baby Bowser boss.
To be honest, the original sprite for Baby Bowser in the prototype looks much more scarier than what was placed in the final game. I've seen people say that it looks like a Moomin (which I can definitely agree with); but there's just something about this that makes it a bit... unsettling for me.
I don't know... maybe I'm just a little scaredy cat or something...
