Very nice photo, I really like the composition...and the quote, I've been planning one using that quote for one of my own photos for ages now but I haven't taken the perfect photo to match it yet...it works really well with your picture

This one's excellent, unnerving the way her eyes are framed out, it's sexy and has a lot of feeling, good movement and a perfect title that makes it. just wish I couldn't see your outline in the reflection of the car. but still, it's I dig it.

for some reason I like the fact that you can see the cabrio lettering...
the reflection in the car... of you? I was originally going to say
that I didnt think you should have kept it in there.. but
did you really think she'd stay?
hum dum dum dum this is awesome.

I'm actually reminded of Jake (what's new haha)
there was a time when we had split up for years
we spent one night together and when the night was over
I was standing by my car and he was thinking about kissing me

I dont know
did you really think I'd stay?

Can I use that line in some poetry or something?

BEST reasoning that my reflection stay there, ever. oh my god, Showna. You're my hero. bottom line.
I just edited myself out of it.... for another version. it's my favorite picture from that series.

dammit - I KNEW That. (the line)
I used it in a poem I wrote... kinda cool.
I'll note you when I submit it.

my photographer friend said that he didnt like the car lettering
but what does he know.. I like it.

you know, I was right last night... this really is amazing...

two suggestions I have for u - try to delete the dress's ribbons (probably for a belt?), and also your reflection on the hood...

anyway, this is so pretty and I have no solution but to this.... BEAUTIFUL!

Jeez! What an incredibly beautiful and sexy... car.

Or, to put it another way, oh? what? there's a car in this shot?

Seriously, desa already knows I'm crazy about her legs, so I can busy myself here with your shot. I think the crop is perfect. Hell, the whole damn thing is nearly perfect, really really professionally slick. Shiny, sexy, scorchy, mysterious. The viewer can't HELP but want to know more...

Ironically, I think the ambiguity of her own age, and whether or not she's the driver or a guest is critical to the appeal. It's a bit risque, in that sense. There's a vague connotation of something quite illicit going on here. " But we just stopped for some fresh air, officer." Eye!

The title adds a whole layer of "Lolita" over that connotation even further - awesome! One of your best titles EVER.

I would join the scepticism about the bow tie, though it seems more spurious to me than geniunely distracting. But yeah, it's one touch too much. (Your own presence in the reflection might be a deal-breaker in selling it to an editor, but otherwise it's so negligible as to just be fun.)

As for "retro," I think it safely refers merely to "a bygone era," rather than any specific period. This could have been '68 by some standards (the car doesn't evoke the 50's as much as the 60's, but the dress seems MORE dated. I think the vague mixing of era-connotations is entirely positive.)

Anyway, this just slays me, and you're right to call it your fave of the batch. It's a knockout image. Any way you look at it.

an eye catching and truly memorable shot... I didn't comment after first glance but after going back through several of your other shots i felt compelled to give it additional attention cause the candy almost plasticene red stayed in my mind. i like the fact that everything youve included is very elegant and the skin shown is the most graceful, and the bright colors and the cut of the dress are glamorous... but there's something strangely casual about the position on the car that makes it seem like dress-up in a very intriguing way... like a natural world vs. illusion kind of theme. very cool... very cool.

matthewh [2003-09-10 02:42:39 +0000 UTC]

nicely done... the polka-dot dress just completely makes this. the bow-tie does bother me, a little (it does seem a bit posed, as someone pointed out), as does the fact that there is no sign of a road behind the car, just forest.

did you notice that you can see your reflection in the car?

the dress is hot shit, she's fucking hot in this pose. nice job on the lighting of it, it's soft but harsh enough to have shadows, i love the crossed legs and her on the car but the bowtie bothers me in a sense that it's too posed. if you wanted to give the idea that she just took it off it should be at least a little crooked and unattached(?). my fav shot of the series.

the thickish border works well here,
but might also work well with it thinner.

i think there is too much nose,
or rather, nose shadow,
i would have cropped it just barely lower.

your horizontal poitns are tilted,
it peeves me.

however, the colors are magnificant.

Nice framing, this is like a pro-product ad, like you'd find in a magazine, etc. I'd edit it to get rid of the dresses belt strings though.
