Description This past week we've been without reliable interwebz and phone thanks to lightning frying our modem ((luckily the computers were unplugged o.o)) and i havn't had access to Photoshop until today to make that comic i promised, so i broke out my clays and a goodwill pony and went to town making Ponyxia. (pony+Onyxia? eh? oh well...) Keep in mind, she's the FIRST ever custom pony i've ever made.

A few fun-facts:
1) she's not a "real" MLP. She's considered a "fakie" from a merry-go-round set, and she's missing the momma.
2) She was also 37 cents at Goodwill, where i also bought Enchanted Ken, Some awesome Samurai G.I.Joe guy, and another Fakie-pony whose customization is yet to be determined, but she was in bad shape.
3) I was absolutely terrified she was going to melt in the oven. It took me a long time to build up the courage to say "screw it" and toss her in. Needless to say, i kept a REALLY close eye on her.
4) When a pony comes out of the oven, they're like jello. it's kinda fun to poke, but i wouldn't suggest it since it would probably collapse. Luckily, Ponyxia didn't.

.:|===============|::.

(A) The original pony, with hair and super-long mutant neck of doom. (As you can see, she has this pretty little blanket thing on her instead of a cutie mark. I decided i didn't like it, and vowed to cover it up. Decided on making her into a Dragon. (At this point, she was going to be a bronze drake, like the one my beloved Illondra rides)

(B) Covering her in the ugliest bit of Poly-clay i had the most of (in this case, bright effing pink.)
(B.1) filled the hole where her tail was since she'll be getting a long lizardy one anyways.

(C) First time in the oven to bake, i was TERRIFIED she was going to melt and burn and make a big mess because of her not being an "official" pony and all. Turned the heat to 250 instead of 275 and baked for about 8 minutes longer. She turned out fine! But had a LOT of imperfections, so i broke out the giant black nail file (emery board) i keep in my purse and went to town grinding her down since i don't have sandpaper. Ghetto-pony ftw.

(D) Second time in the oven. She now has a tail. (specifically, a drake tail with the weird pinecone on the end, that was actually kinda fun to make. I ended up taking cuticle scissors to an egg-shaped ball of clay and poking the points out to make spikes.

(E) Unfortunately, i was just about full on my memory card at that point and it ate my battery. For about an hour i continued working -- sculpting, baking, ripping things off, chugging Dr. Pepper, etc. before i decided to get off my bum and take a shower. Then watched some TV, and THEN dug through my moving boxes and found my charger cord. I let it charge for about 10 minutes -- long enough to take the next pictures.

(F) Ripped off the pinecone end of the tail, after deciding i wanted a Ponyxia instead of a regular drake. (Why? because i can! muahahaha... and because i wanted to use the word "Ponyxia") Added horns to the head. (I couldn't find my floral wire from my art box after the move, and i was kinda afraid the thin stuff would melt, so i grabbed some Pipe-cleaners after reading on the sculpy box that you can bake them "right with the clay!". I did take a lighter to it first -- outside -- and melted all the fuzzy crap off so it wouldn't interfere with my clay. Chopped off her ears, bent the wire through, and played with the clay till i was sick of it and said "meh. it'll look better when it's painted" and set it aside. Also added head and tail spikes, (ran out of pink finally...) sanded some more, and forgot to give her a bottom jaw apparently...

(G) Formed some basic wings that are probably not even going to work, but i'm going to try anyways. the backside will be carved. They're textured on the actual wing-part (not the fingers) to look tattered and torn. Hoping that actually turns out >.< Not entirely sure how i'm going to attach them to the pony, but i'm sure it'll have something to do with some wire, a bit of super-glue, and more clay to build up arms.

Notes: Ponyxia currently needs a bottom jaw and teeth, along with some more carving/sculpting of her tail, which i didn't notice was that thick until i took the pictures. She will be painted completely white once everything is in place, sanded, and painted again until completely smooth. She'll then be painted with colors and details and etc. which will surely end up in another WIP. <3

If you have any questions/comments/etc feel free to ask them, and i'll try to get back to you as quickly as possible! :-D

((Should have a few comic pages up this week (including the bonus Abomination, i haven't forgotten!) since our interwebs is fixded!))

Also, she will NOT be for sale. (unless, y'know. you guys offer me like 50 bucks for her, but that isn't going to happen XD
