Thanks.
It'd be an untruth to say Disney's version didn't influence this somewhat.
Merlin was always my favorite character in medieval fantasy; other people's favorites are your Arthurs or Lancelots, but I like the old guy that's wiser than everyone and can zap you.

Well, maybe I'm old-fashioned, but a wizard just doesn't seem wizardy without a long white beard and pointy hat.

Yeah, Mum kind of agreed it was a shame Gandalf lost the hat when he become "the White"

Yeah, think if he'd've had a fancy white hat to go with it...

I think they did that in the Bakshi movie-version?

I don't know... I only saw about half of that one.

I'd say that movie (I know it's technically three, but in my mind it'd just one big, long movie) is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Yep, those are all good ones. I hear-tell there's another "Pirate" movie coming out...

It actually looks pretty good. Will and Elizabeth aren't in this one, so it's liable to not be too much of a re-hash.

Indeed... and thanks for the favoritization.
By the way, is that Snidely Whiplash in your avatar?

Thank you, I'm rather pleased with the facial expression myself; "knowing" is a good way to put it. I always imagined Merlin as a wise fellow who always seems to know more about things than he lets on...

You did a great job with Merlin, too bad Dreamworks couldn't couldn't make a good Merlin. But shrek 3 to me was direct to video material. GRAVE DIGGER did a song about him

Yeah, I wasn't that fond of Dreamworks' Merlin, but I still liked him, and the rest of the movie as well. Not as good as the first I'll grant you, but still enjoyable.

Yep, I was pretty happy with the way it came out more painting-like and still maintained it's cartooney feel. If you've ever looked at most fantasy art, it's usually, how did you put it; "painterly", and I was going for that sort of style.

Brilliant! I love the use of soft-shading in the image. It really stands out!

Thank you. I thought I'd try something different with the whole shading scheme; I'm glad you find it effective.

Well, I drew a picture of him, but it wasn't this. What's more, this is a bajillion and a half point three times better than anything I could pull off in Scribbledy-dibbledy.
Thanks for the laud, by the way.

No promotion. The result is enough reward in itself.
And yes, the Prof. is still accepting questions. I'm just waiting for enough good ones to go another round.

I'd like a pool full of jello, a barrel of pickles, three-and-a-half slices of cheesecake, and a golf cart with monster truck tires and a roll cage.
