Hard to believe this was a small village before the canals came through the valley beyond. Off to the left was a stagecoach stop, and that archway led to Lawns, home of Lord Goddard. The railways came shortly after and Swindon became a large town. An early morning shot with none of the busy traffic you would normally expect.
