This was created for the Books into Disney Movies Contest at 33rd Contest .

I chose this particular character and story because it was my most favourite as a child and I read it often even now. A story full of action and fighting with a lot (hundreds and then thousands) of bad guys beaten up by the hero here and there. It really appealed to me as a small boy. Samson is also a very relatable character as he is supposed to be the good guy, The chosen One but is full of flaws like any other ordinary person (me and you). This story is also about dealing with consequences as a result of your actions and getting second chances which everyone deserves when you really make an effort to admit and fix your mistakes .

Samson is a character from the book of Judges in the bible who ruled Israel as judge for 20 years (as they still did not have a king yet). God gave him supernatural strength which he used to defend Israel from their notorious enemy, the Phillistines. Over the course of his rule he beat up and killed thousands of Phillistines starting with the murder of his fiancé and her family. But he was a flawed character even though he was supposed to be a hero to his people. Samson is one of the few biblical stories that deals with pride, disobedience, anger/temper, tragedy, revenge/rage, lust, forgiveness and redemption/salvation all in one.

As the story goes he disobeyed God by drinking wine, eating unclean things, going after women who were not Hebrew but were Phillistine (Israel's enemies) and eventually as the story progresses he told the secret of his strength to his lover Delilah that if his hair was cut he would lose his supernatural strength. She cut his hair while he was sleeping and when he awoke he was weaker than any other man. He was then captured and taken prisoner, his eyes gouged out and became a slave to the Phillistines who rewarded the traitor Delilah with money. After a while in captivity Samson's hair grew and he was taken to a large building with thousands of Phillistines celebrating his capture. As he was put on display he asked God for forgiveness and to give him the strength one more time to defeat the Phillistines. And he was able to do so after putting each hand against two pillars and pushed them bringing the entire building down killing every Phillistine and Samson himself. It is not known what happened to Delilah if she was in the building or not.

*This film would receive a PG rating and would not feature blood or barely any but sword and spears penetrating bodies will be featured such as in the swordfight in Don Bluth's The Secret of Nimh or Disney's Beauty and the Beast when Gascon stabs the Beast and blood is shown.
