Well I guess the title speaks for itself on this one! Vinyl Scratch and Octavia! I wanted to try and experiment with different poses and mane "Styles" I'm not sure as to why I ended up putting ice on the bottom, but I guess it gives me a reason to call it "Cool" XD Puns... got to love em! lol.
Anyway, I hope ya'll like my piece of Vinyl Scratch and Octavia!
*Edit* I just found out that this works well as a wallpaper! Didn't realize what res I was using until I looked again on dA what the size of the pic was! XD So yeah, if you'd like you may use this pic as a desktop wallpaper if ya want! ^^

You're painting is great, but from the look of Vinyl's left leg, I'd say you really need to research pony anatomy.

Yeah, well, that was done quite some time ago, I've learned a lot since then. I'm especially learning a lot more now since that's what I'm studying is anatomy. That painting was done as a very very quick sketch, didn't do much to it or for it, I just wanted to whip up something as a sketch and then paint it. I should have paid more attention to that leg and honestly while I was painting that I couldn't figure out how to "fix" it during mid paint. I just figured I'd finish it up and work on anatomy on a later piece. And as I said I'm trying to focus a lot of my attention to anatomy now... and I'm also trying to break out of my typical painting processes by coming up with something entirely new, or at the very least different from what I've done in the past.
I've been doing art for about three years I believe, and only one of them doing digital art, and so far I'm fairly pleased with my results, though there is much room for improvement. I embrace trying to get as good as I can, because I find it rather fun to see how good you can get at something you love! ^^

It was a new pose and sometimes I get placings a bit wrong, but practice makes perfect I guess! So I'll keep practicing it until I get the hang of it! ^^

Looking at it again, I think it's more of a shading error on my part. And I always tend to look at a reference pic, but for a pose such as that, I don't think I'd be able to find a reference with that kind of pose. As I said though, I'll just keep practicing until I can get poses down more!

Nice! The only thing that's bothering me a bit is the placement of Vinyl's horn... It should be closer to right behind the nose-piece of her glasses, justΒ a small nit-pock

Yeah, you should have seen me trying to fix that! XD I kept placing, then replacing the position of it, I couldn't figure out where it should sit due to her mane... I later just tried to eye ball it as best as I could and hoped for the best! And I'm glad to hear ya like it despite the horn, much appreciated!!

Yeah, this is the first time I ever drew Vinyl Scratch and Octavia before together. I have older pics of them somewhere in my gallery, but I thought drawing them again would be a nice change! ^^ And the pose of Vinyl Scratch... I don't know what I was thinking quite honestly! XD I was just doodling in Sai at first when I came up with that pose, and for some reason I liked it and wanted to see if I couldn't make anything out of it!

Perhaps I should do that more often, post lineart of what I'm working on and then show the finished results! ^^
And I'm so happy to hear ya liked the finished result and that you found it to be spectacular, very much appreciated!!
And all that I do to get my manes to look that way is use the "bristle" brush and the normal "round" brush in Paint Tool Sai, and just experiment with it for awhile! ^^
