“That stupid Norwegian!”

You huffed in anger as your foot landed in another puddle. Since you were told in such short notice it was your Norwegian friends birthday, you had rushed out of your house to get to his, since it usually took a hour and a half walk. Unfortunately for you, though, it had started raining half of the way there.

So, here you were, running as fast as you could toward your friend Lukas’s house, in the rain. Your clothing was already soaked and heavy, but that didn’t stop you. You were also told he usually spent his birthdays alone. Psh, not if you could prevent it.

You sighed in relief as you saw his house come into view. Using all of the energy you had left, you ran the last quarter mile to his house. Bounding up his three step porch in one, you almost slammed into the door. Thankfully, though, you have grabbed one of the wooden beams that connected the porch and roof together, which caused you to come to a spinning stop. You waited a few seconds before knocking on the wooden door, so you could catch your breath. But before you could bring your hand up to knock, the door opened, revealing a slightly surprised Lukas.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” You asked the confused Norwegian.

A small frown appeared on his face as he tilted his head to the side. “Tell you what?”

“That your birthday is today!” You said just below a yell.

“Oh… I guess it slipped my mind. Sorry.” He then looked you up and down. “You’re soaked.”

You pressed your lips together. “It started raining on the way here…” You said awkwardly.

“Well, come in then. I’ll get you some fresh clothes.” Lukas stepped aside to let you in, and you gladly did. It wasn’t only wet, but it was cold outside, for it being May.

As Lukas went upstairs to find you something to wear, you closed the wooden front door, happy to be inside the warm house. You stood shivering over the welcome mat, not wanted to get the floor wet, since gravity didn’t seem to like you too much today.

Lukas soon came down with a pair of clothes and a towel. Handing them to you, he said, “You know where the bathroom is.” You just nodded and gave a shaky smile, quickly heading for the bathroom. Once you were in there, you found that he gave you an old pair of sweat pants, and a T-shirt. Both of the items were a little big on you, but what did you expect? You took the towel and dried your hair, and then hung your wet clothes on the towel hanger. Running your fingers through your semi dry (h/l) hair, you nodded in approval.

Walking out of the bathroom with the towel still draped over your shoulders, you found Lukas in the dining room, going through a stack of papers with his usual blank expression on his face. Frowning, you quietly walk in and sit on the chair across from him. You put your chin on your hand, which was being propped up on the table by your elbow. After staring at him for some time, you break the silence.

“What do you usually do on your birthday?” You asked Lukas. Once he was done reviewing the paper he was reading, he looked up at you.

“Well, I usually just do whatever I usually do every day. But as the sun is setting, I go to my roof and watch it set. Then I watch the moon rise. But, since it’s raining, I don’t think that’s going to happen.” He frowned just the slightest, before going back to his papers. You narrowed your eyes at him, before an idea came to your mind.

“Hey, you have Netflix, right?” You asked, getting ready to get up.

“Yes, feel free to use the TV.” He said, not even bothering to look at you. You just smirked, got up, and headed for the living room. You glanced around the dark living room, looking for the remote. Finding it on the coffee table, you snatched it up, and hit the power button. The TV lit up the room, but no sound came from it since the volume was on 0. Walking up to the entertainment center, you turn his Wii on, which was something his friend Matthias had gotten him for his birthday a few years back. He never used it, not even for Netflix. But sometimes when you came over, you both would watch random movies, just for the heck of it.

Once you got Netflix on the screen, you moved the Wii remote to the search box. Then, you typed in Rise of the Guardians. Smiling in triumph as you saw it pop up, you clicked on it and then ran back into the dining room.

“Lukas! I found a movie for us to watch,” You say as you excitedly jumped up and down beside the Norwegian. You had been waiting for the movie to come on Netflix for a while now, you had just forgotten about it.

Of course, he didn’t respond until a minute after you had showed up at his side. “Okay. Let me finish this paper, though. Then we can watch it.” You pouted, and sat on the chair cross legged across from him. After a long minute, you just placed your arms on the table, and then laid your head on top of them. Closing your eyes, you listened to the soft pitter patter of the rain hitting the windows.

As you were enjoying the silence, you didn’t know that the Norwegian had glanced up from his work to look at you. A small smile tugged at the edge of his lips. You were so patient with him; one of the many things he liked about you. Once he was done reading his paper, he scooted his chair back so he could stand up. Hearing movement, you shot your head up, (e/c) meeting deep blue.

“Ready?” You asked, a smile planted on your face. He just simply nodded, and stood there, waiting for you to get up and join him. You slowly got up from your cross legged position, just the slightest sore from the hard chair. As you were walking by him, he started walking with you towards the couch. As you both sat down, you grabbed a blanket and draped it over both of your legs. You grabbed the Wii remote, and hit the play button. You smiled excitedly as you closely sat next to Lukas, trying to get as much warmth from him as possible. But what came next surprised you. He let out a small amused snort, and slightly smirking, he wrapped his arm around your shoulders. In response, you laid your head on his shoulder. Sighing happily, a small smile made its way to your face. This was bliss.

~Time skip, after the movie~

You sat upright, stretching your back, and putting your arms in the air as you let your muscles get used to moving again. Once you were done, you slumped back down next to Lukas.

“So, did you like it?” You asked with a smile on your face.

The emotionless Lukas thought for a second. “Yes, I did. Thank you, _____.”

“Of course, it’s your birthday.” You give a small smile, and looked into the Norwegian’s dark blue eyes. Gosh, they looked so beautiful and mysterious with the moon shining on them. Wait, the moon…

You gave a small gasp as you saw the moon’s light come through the window behind him. “Lukas, look! The moon’s out! Let’s go watch it rise!” You said, immediately getting up, and grabbing his arm, pulling him up with you.

“Okay, okay. Let me just get some towels. The roof is probably wet,” He said matter-of-factly, and then went to the bathroom. You waited patiently until he came back with two towels, and then motioned for you to follow him. He led you upstairs, and then into a room. As you looked around the dark room, you realized it was Lukas’s room. He rarely ever brought you up here, and you were probably the only other person who had been in it. You smiled as you found that his walls were a galaxy indigo color, and the furniture white. Looking up, you saw a glass window at the top, perfect for star gazing. The window took up about the entire ceiling, setting the room in a beautiful moon lit glow. But your time to observe was short lived as Lukas led you to his bedroom window.

Opening it as wide as it would go, Lukas bent down, swinging a leg over the ceil of the window, and then the other. You did the same, making sure you didn’t slip. Once you were out, you saw that you were on a flat section of the roof. You glance over at Lukas, thinking this was where you guys were going to lay down. But, apparently he had other plans. Walking over to the side of the roof, Lukas stepped onto where the higher part of the roof jutted out by about a foot in length. You were about to follow him up, until you realized that if you misplaced your foot, you were going to basically fall to your death. Suddenly becoming dizzy, you stepped back and leaned on the wall of the house, closing your eyes and trying to calm yourself down.

Lukas peered over the edge to look at you, obviously not scared of heights.

“You okay?” He asked, his brows slightly tilted down, as if he was worried.

“Yeah… It’s just… that’s a long fall.” You said, trying not to remember how far it was.

“Here, then.” He said, standing on the edge, holding his hands out to you.

“But… but what if you fall?” You asked, the image of him falling down to his death playing in your mind.

He just gave a little snort, smirking at you. “I won’t fall. I’ve done this too many times to fall.”

You sighed. “Alright then…” You slowly approached him, making sure to not trip, but not look down at the same time. You grabbed both of his hands, and he gently pulled you up as you made the foot long step. Unfortunately for you, you accidently looked down in the process. Squeaking in fear, you quickly made the step up and wrapped your arms tightly around Lukas. At first he stiffened up, but quickly relaxed as he softly put his arms around you.

“It’s okay, _____. You made it,” He said in a soft, gentle voice. Slowly loosening your arms around him, you pull away, looking up into his eyes. He gave you a small smile, and your face turned red as you realized what you just did. Quickly stepping away from him, you looked away and head for the top of the roof. Lukas just smirked and followed you, watching you closely to making sure you didn’t lose your balance. As you got to the top of the roof, you looked up into the sky. The moon was almost right above you, shining like a spot light down on you. You glanced back to see Lukas staring at you, as if he was in a trance.

“Lukas?” You asked. He seemed to snap out of his ‘trance’, and taking sudden interest in the detail of the roof, he made his way up to you. You just frowned, and took the towel that was still wrapped around your shoulders off so you could use it to lie on. As you laid it down, Lukas laid his closely next to yours. As you laid down on your towel, Lukas did the same, laying down just close enough for your arms to touch.

As you gazed up at the sky, your eyes grew wide at how beautiful it was. Where you lived, there was more light pollution, so you could barely see the stars that were twinkling in the night. But where Lukas lived, there were millions of stars. And the moon. Oh, the moon. It was so bright and beautiful. A smile made its way onto your face as you saw different star constellations you learned about when you were little. Without realizing it, you let out a content sigh, enjoying the relaxing and magical atmosphere.

“What?” Lukas asked.

“Hm?” You replied, turning your head towards Lukas. Your face turned pink as you realized Lukas’s face was only inched from yours.

“You sighed.” He said in a monotone voice.

“Oh…” You trailed off. “Well, it’s just that it’s so beautiful and magical. I can see so many stars, and the moon is so bright… This whole night had been magical, really. Watching Rise of the Guardians ‘n all.” You let out a small laugh as you turned back over to look up at the sky.

“…You know what would make this night more magical?” Lukas asked, a his voice faltering just the slightest.

“What?” You asked, not bothering to look back over at the blonde Norwegian.

“This.” He said. Frowning at his reply, you turned to look over at him when a pair of lips suddenly pressed against yours. Your eyes flew wide for a second, until you comprehended that Lukas was kissing you. You closed your eyes and smiled into the kiss as butterflies erupted in your stomach. Sadly, as fast as the kiss came, it ended. Lukas pulled back, and gave you a heartwarming, loving, genuine smile. You shyly smiled back at him, butterflies still fluttering around in your stomach.

Before lying back down, he leaned forward and lightly pecked your cheek. “Jeg elsker deg, _____.”

As he laid back down, he grabbed your hand with his soft, slightly bigger one. As he entwined his fingers with yours, you turned your head away from him, hoping he wouldn’t see your face, which you were sure was 5 different shades of red.
