Concept illustration of a Transformers 2007 movie-style Perceptor, for An Cailin Rua's fanfiction "Naturalized", [link]

I put this under concept illustration rather than fanart because it is my original design, drawing to An Calin Rua's vision of him He in no way resembles his original G1 cartoon design...thank goodness! He won't be randomly morphing into a human-sized red microscope.

For those not that familiar with his character, Perceptor is a scientist. Instead of transforming into a microscope like he did in the original cartoon, the idea was to give him microscope eyes instead, which makes a lot more sense, at least to us. Other sciency gizmos are hidden in his arms and super-long fingers. In the story, he starts out with an alternate mode of a solid, coppery egg, which I tried to hint at with the curvy plates and lines on him.

The black silhouette represents a roughly 6 foot tall human for scale. Perceptor is supposed to be 9.5 feet tall.

Anyway, this was great fun to do, I've never really tried to draw a robot in any detail before. Done entirely in Photoshop CS3. For the full size version of the pic, click on the download link!
