Overall

Originality

Impact

The vibrant colours draw the eye in. The shading and blending is well done.
It would seem the main emphasis is on the lily, however the outlining of the background stems seems to take away from the focus.
Very well done coloured pencil use.
This image does a wonderful job of drawing the eye in, however the focus is lost quickly as the flower itself is a little soft.
Perhaps crisper lines could help bring it to the front of the image.
The shapes and shadows are pleasing to the eye.
If the blending from light to dark were a little less harsh, more variegated, it would give the overall image a more serene, pleasant feel.

Overall, a pleasant piece to look at the conjures up feelings of warmth and pleasure.

I've Never really been good with colored pencils, but I'm getting better, I like some of my other ones more than this one personally. But that's just me.

what kind of colored pencils did you use on this drawing, if you don't mind me asking?  I have one's that you can blend with a paint brush when you finish drawing, like water color and just plain colored pencils as well.  I used to draw a lot with them, but I got bored and moved on..haha.  I think I'm drawn to this drawing in particular because of the colors.  The artist always has their favorite among their artwork, that may not be the same as everyone else's.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

The ones I prefer the most are "Design Spectracolor" I also have some prismacolor. I've never really liked drawing in color and until I found these Spectracolor ones, was never really happy with any of the work I've done in color. I have some watercolor pencils alsoand I did use a couple actually on the candle drawing and also on this one. But only in a few small areas.

yeah your correct always do have my own favorite as anyone would. As sometimes like minds think alike. The trick is to get as many minds on the same page as possible. While still being yourself.

I used Derwent Watercolor and the regular Derwent as well.  I haven't tried Design Spectracolor or prismacolor, but maybe it would change my mind about how fun it is to draw in color...hehe. I like the effects I can get with the watercolor pencils, but I've often thought I should just do straight watercolor then.

I totally agree that the objective as an artist is to get as many minds on the same page as possible, while maintaining who you are.

I never liked using color in my drawings because I was never satisfied with the finished product until I found the design Spectracolor pencils. When I got the prismacolor color I had hoped they would achieve that goal for me but sadly they didn't. However after getting the Spectracolor pencils I will actually combine them all when I use them. Now I mix all sorts of mediums together freely from colored pencil, pencil, pen, marker, white out, wax, metallic pen, and some watercolor.  I Keep trying new things, However that usually results in me ruining some of the work by the time I'm done. Not always though. I think water color pencil is more accurate and gives more ability for detail then straight water color.

I always hesitate to tell people all the mediums I use together, because I think somewhere in the back of my mind that there's a particular order in which you have to use it and that you can't use two particular mediums together or otherwise it borders on craft, which is ridiculous.  I think that is only because I took two introductory art courses in college.  I've used pastel and chalk together or crayon and colored pencils. When I'm sculpting I use a variety of clay sometimes in one sculpture.  It's whatever gives my art the effect I want it to have.  Water color pencil may be more accurate, but I think that sometimes it does not have a fluidity that straight water color does.

So how many different art forms do you express yourself in?  Maybe I should ask what you haven't tried yet...haha.  What is your favorite?

Im a big believer in pushing the boundaries of what's thought to be acceptable or what's seen as the "norm" so to speak. In general if someone tells me I can't do something I try to prove that statement wrong every time. I don't really see any impossibilities anywhere in life more so much as I see improbabilities. Nothing is truly impossible as soon as you think something is, you'll be proved wrong. As well as when I see something I think is creative and ingenuitiv (sp) I will borrow ideas and adapt them to be my own and or build upon them. I know I'm not the smartest person in the world, there is always something to learn from someone.

Ive worked a lot with pencil since I never really cared to pay attention in school. Are used to use a lot of spray paint and do murals, firearms finishes, and at one point a lot of graffiti. At this point my biggest creative outlets would be either work, or writing music. I grew up using tools and working with my hands with family and once I was 18 started doing construction for contractor, and now own my own business. Through my business I do a lot of carpentry and masonry, and some other trades as well. As a result I build a lot of unique things for people, I try to always make whatever it is the only thing like it you'll see. I think I have pictures of some of my major work on here ie. Fireplaces, staircases and showers that I built. writing music has been the only thing keeping me sane at this point in time now, with all the drama in my life now. Almost everything I put into my music is factual. I've only been doing that for about a year though, steadily increasing more as the year went by. I also have dabbled with oil paints, pastels, water color,  and charcoal. However a lot of those I find to be too messy to do regularly.

I obviously do photography also, but I find that to be so easy that I don't really view it as a creative outlet for me at least, more as providing perspective of my view of reality. A lot of my photography is done while I'm doing something else.

i've never really done work with Clay, or sculpting.
though I've done carving, I've also done work with stone and grinders and polishers which you could do some sculpting with in essence.

Ah, I see, you're just very talented period  I never cared about what anyone thought of my art until I took those two classes, in some ways I think that formal classes can stifle some artists.  I think that infusing your work into your art is a great way to express yourself.  I sometimes have that feeling about photography too, because if you have a good camera and are steady with your hand you will get good results, I think the people that take it up a notch are true artists by putting their own twist on it.

That's awesome that you work with your hands and create unique things for people. I do the same with my sculptures, some people are disturbed by them, but hey, at least it gets their attention. I'm really into making clay sculptures on wood lately,it makes the sculpture that much more unique.

I've always wanted to try carving, it's the opposite of sculpture in a lot of ways.  I admire it, but will probably never become really great at it or try it at all...haha.

I like your music, it's a unique style of rap, you don't talk about women maliciously which I find resfreshing.  I think that people really express their inner most thoughts and feelings through their music.  I write poetry, but I'm not musically inclined.

Thanks for sharing your artistic experience with me

I agree entirely, I think school in general while necessary curbs individuality and by extension creativity as well.  To me photography a lot of times is more about a moment , or as some say a "capture", more than the quality of image or what it's of. Almost all of mine is done with a cell phone though I have digital cameras. I almost never have my camera with me and almost always have my cell phone.

Why do people get disturbed by your sculptures? Someone once told me so long as it envokes a reaction from someone  be it positive or negative, that it's truly art. I find in my life even if I don't totally like a certain thing I can atleast identify when it's done at the too of its capabilities and have respect for it as such.

carving can be dangerous given you been sharp tools, but anything can be dangerous if done incorrectly. I find the biggest drawback with things of this nature is space to actually do it, it helps if you got a shop, barn, etc.

I di know what you mean about the overall negativity towards women in general in rap, my not doing so is very intentional, it's something I personaly have always had a issue with. I'm actually happy to hear it's noticed, and your saying that is very fortuitous. I have a song I'm working on with a bunch of people I know, I was told yesterday that about 50% of the other people on it will be rapping about that type of  stuff, I debated  not doing the track, however I wrote almost a whole verse that's verry pro women and talking shit to my friends. I'm not sure if I even want my name associated with it though. I do have one song that's due to be coming out on someone else's album in the near future, but I font know exactly when. That song is by far better than any other I've done before it. I can't wait for that to happen, it's not up to me tho when it'll be released. However I do have another track that's far better than that one even was and I'm proud of that I'll be releasing probably Monday or Tuesday this coming week. Nothing I've done yet and releasded has been comparable. I think people will like it. I've never been musically inclined, I surely never thought Of myself as a rapper. However I'm good with words and Speaking, coupled with every girl I've ever known has said they love the sound of my voice. While I don't like it myself, I cant be the judge myself. That as well as I work and have listened to songs on the radio and learned them all by heart. I got good at changing the words to make the songs about what ever was going on. Than a good friend suddenly started producing and making beats. Which leads to now, and who knows what the future holds, but I'm trying to be unique and give it my all, who knows what the future may hold.

I thank you as well, as we all share life's journey together
