Scene from the upcoming sequel to my novel "The Outsider"

Dr. Richard Dickerson, the department vice-chair who oversaw paleontology, examined the graduate student's frantically-worded memo and the evidence supporting her claims. "Dr. Dick-Dick", derisively known by the nickname he had endured since he was in elementary school, was the faculty member who usually handled anything to do with Ruthie Burns. For a lot of reasons, Ruthie was not an easy person to deal with, but Dickerson had managed to establish a solid professional rapport with her. When she gave up her modeling career and cut her ties with the DSU Art Department, "Dr. Dick-Dick" had helped her make the transition to becoming graduate student in Geology, with an emphasis on paleobiology. The fact that she had been a famous model just a few years before did not phase him in the least, nor did the growing quirks in her personality. He had a way to temper her mood swings when she got over-excited about something, and could uplift her mood when she got depressed. In many ways he could sympathize with her, after enduring a lifetime of being called "Dick-Dick".
