Finally finished this after experimenting way too long. Tempted to keep fiddling, but I think I need to just let it be what it is. Hopefully the colors come out OK, it looks fine on my monitor that tends to be less bright and saturated, but looks pretty over the top on my monitor that tends to be oversaturated. I still need to work on that...[edit--have replaced the image with a better quality photograph]. Anyway, I like how a lot of things came out here, but definitely had some things that I wish I'd done differently. I think I'm happy enough in the end, just noticing a few things I automatically default to and a few places where I was too stuck in the details to remember how the whole was going together. Anyway, might make some time for some plein air painting tomorrow (we are on Fall break where I'm teaching), so that will hopefully give me plenty of opportunity to experiment with new ways of doing things.Arches 140 lb watercolor papery, 11x14 inches, primarily Daniel Smith extra fine watercolors but there is a bit of M Graham mixed in there too.
