Persephone Porter and Luna Juliette Ilandere, from ~erin-hime 's upcoming NaNo story, The Gatekeeper. Yes, the Luna-Juliette joke is still funny to me.
This isn't a big picture at all, but I've been so distracted with other stuff -- school and stuff for my NaNo story alike -- that it took longer to finish this than it usually would. It's more traditional stuff, since I think my last traditional chibi sparked something. It's fun to go back to this, even though there are some problems with traditional work -- the way colours have to be approximated. Or, in Juliette's case, just barely similar -- the actual outfit's much more muted and subdued in its' colours than this, but this was the best I could manage. Persephone's is a little better, though the green didn't scan quite so well. Oh, how fun it is to deal with scanning issues again.
These two characters, in all the old version, seemed to be good friends -- and at any rate, they'd be happy being in each other's presence (compared to, say, Juliette and Desdemona, which is what I was starting to sketch before deciding I didn't like that idea and sketched this instead). Not to mention you get all that nice dark-light contrast with their hair which you'd also get with Des, but shh >.>
I'm pleased with their hair, especially Juliette's. For some reason I have a hard time really getting a natural looking blonde (it tends to look very yellow if I do it wrong), but it turned out pretty well here. Persephone's...not so much, but I tend to have trouble with dark, dark browns anyway. I suppose as long as you can tell there is shading, it's good.
I complain, I know, but I enjoyed working on this, and with coloured pencils again. I haven't used traditional media in a while, and it's fun dabbling with it again.

Holy crap, a traditionally colored chibi? Was so not expecting that! (A regular chibi, maybe, but then, since it was taking you so long, I wasn't entirely sure.) It looks sort of weird, but I figured out that's just because it doesn't have the colored lines. But that doesn't take away from its epic awesomeness.
I suppose the colors I used for their outfits are a little hard to match with colored pencils - Juliette's is a mauvey purple, and Persephone's is a teal (which I wouldn't think would be that hard to approximate, but what do I know?) I think you did good with the colors regardless - Persephone's is a pretty green, and Juilette's in pink, which sh is happy about.
These two are in fact not-quite-BFF best friend sort of characters. They do end up pretty good friends, so it does make sense to stick them together. It would make sense to do Juliette and Des as well - I like to stick those to together sometimes as well, because they're the good and bad princesses of the story, and they're so opposite. But Juliette and Persephone work as well, since Persephone's so similar to Des, anyway. And this way, I can get another Persephone out of it.
I really love Juliette's hair as well. There's something about it. I'm not sure what you did with Persephone's hair, but, um, just FYI in case you have this random urge to do something like this again, but the blond in Persephone's hair is the same color as Juliette's hair. 
I'm so excited that you did this for me, and it turned out so nicely. I love your colored pencil work, and I love receiving it. And I know for a fact that it's so much fun to do! We just tend to forget that it is with all the digital work that we do.

I think the reason it looks 'sort of weird' is because of the eyes, personally. For some reason they come out a little different when it's done in digital, and so these less detailed ones look weird. Or it could be the black lines, too -- I suppose that could be resolved if I got a hold of some coloured inks, but that would take a bit too much time. Black's easier to get a hold of.
Yeah, the colours are hard to match mostly because Prismacolor's not known for their dull shades; they're all pretty vibrant.
Ha ha yeah, so many options for pairs! It's almost too hard to pick one, because they all sound good.
The blonde in Persephone's hair is the same colour as Juliette's actually.
I'm glad you like it, despite it being so late! And I'm glad you like the fact that it's not shiny and digital either you're totally not inspiring me to do more traditional piees, oh no
