Description

Since Tumblr is currently busy shooting itself in the foot, I'm scooting all of my online art back over here, where my posts won't be blocked for ridiculous reasons and people can properly enjoy my work. However, those of you who are paying attention may have noticed that this piece is already hosted on DeviantART somewhere, so why put it here again?

Well the story is that several years ago, DeviantART wasn't in the business of letting you change your account name for love or money. I had reached the point of hating mine and growing into my "Shaudo" persona, and at the time, my only option was to make a new account. (My favored name, "Shaudo," was already taken by someone who make an account and then never. used it. What's the matter, Jon, not good enough for ya?)

I had started separating my tumblr accounts between illustration work (Shaudo) and three-dimensional work (ShaudoWorks, currently under renovation) due to the vast differences in subject matter when DeviantART changed its tune and decided that we could change our names here for a lump-sum of cash (a monthly subscription). Got my new name, started splitting up my art here and there (more there than here), and life was good.

However, I always felt that I should have a date on when my MLP character came to be. You see, I made her in 2012 as a character to play on a My Little Pony Minecraft server, and one of the rules there was that you couldn't copy canon characters in name or story. I didn't want to risk one of the animation team cherry-picking Diamond Dust as a name and dusting my ability to play as my own personal character. Of course I was most worried about the name. I never thought the MLP team would make a broken-horned unicorn with a hate-on for Equestrian royalty, a pessimistic view of friendship, a bodacious eyelash game and a penchant for turning ponies into statues. It just didn't seem to be their thing.

(Honestly, I find the similarities incredibly entertaining.)

Diamond Dust is a  My Little Pony fan-character. She is a hornless unicorn, is never really happy, and has an obscure connection to the Windigos of Equestrian folklore.
