Description An inked drawing I did when my internet cut out (dang Telus). And now he's a character, potentially the main character in my Nanowrimo novel. Woohoo! Yeah, ink-3 hours or so. Takes forever to cover that much black with a pen... and the coloring was done in Photostudio in about an hour. I've discovered the secret!

So this is The Scarecrow, and no, I don't care that it's clichΓ©.

I'm putting this one in Traditional because I spent WAY more time on the ink, and the colors aren't that prominent.

Ah, that's nice. You no, instead of inking the whole thing, you can just mark off where the blacks are and paint over them in PS.

I could've. I don't have a tablet, though, and not THAT great of mouse control, and I originally intended on watercoloring it instead of computer coloring. (pokes the paper) It's on watercolor paper for that very reason. But, no, since my computer was internet-less, I wanted to waste time off the internet, so I did! Laa.

Paint bucket can fill in the areas designated for filling. A fineliner or dark pen makes a good line.
Fear the knowledge that not even I bother to use (no use of scanner yet, neh . . .)

ONLY when your lines are neat enough to have no gray and stuff. Seriously. If I paint bucket my stuff, it ends up with white and gray blobs in the middle and along the edges where the lines were... my scanner be old. And I use india ink and a proper dip pen. XD.

Then paint it in using the brush tool. Set the backround layer to multiply, duplicate it, and then paint the original over with the colour of your choice, then add other seperate colour layers underneath the layer with the original picture on it.
And don't say that ot won't work, I use it myself and it works like a charm.

How do you think I'm colorizing? It's just not as fast a process as one might think, particularly without Photoshop. I have to use a roundabout process in Arcsoft. And PSP takes forever to load, so I don't use it all the time.

Wel, more, I'm putting base colors on one layer, and then the next layer, I usually set to screen and the shadows to multiply. When working in PSP. Though lately I've taken to simply using a normal layer above base colors and building up the shadows and stuff on my own. Like in this picture. (poke)

Yes, I realized that. That was just advice.

And you use the smudge tool for adjusting yor shading, lol, along with blur . . .

And it's a horribly bad idea, lol, rather than using an opaque brush. Trust me. I used to think the smudge tool came from heaven, until I realized what it did to my art... you get that much more clarity by doing things the painful way. Blur and smudge? Do exactly what they say they'll do. Blur and smudge. Which ain't always a good thing...

<3 hairbrushes, currently. Heh.

I use them all the time in my pictures. If they don't work for you, then that's fine, but trust me, the way someone might get things done might not be the way for you.
Oi, I feel like I just had a fight with someone. And as for my use of them, I only use it when I have to, just to establish tha small point there.

Ahh! No! Don't set the backround layer to multiply! Set the duplicated layter to multiply!
Oi, I confuzzle myself. Sorry about that!
