The Iris is associated with faith, wisdom, cherished friendship, hope, valor, promise in love . . . etc. The blade-shaped foliage denotes the sorrows which 'pierced a heart.' Blessed with the colors of the rainbow and the purest white, the iris has been recognized as the dancing spirit of early summer. Its soft, fluttering petals remind the Chinese people of butterfly wings, flapping gently in the breeze. The flower is known as Tze Hu-tieh or "The Purple Butterfly."I was trying to go for a water-coloured effect. Aha. I wonder if it worked...? Anyway, this didn't take me too long (mainly because I coloured a sketch and didn't make a lineart fff. -lazy-). ....-shrug- Not much to say about it?
The character is an original, whose name I keep changing. LOL. I can't seem to chooseeeeee (probably because I'm not Chinese and I don't know much about Chinese names). His name is Li Xiao, Li meaning Right Action and Xiao meaning Early Morning, probably the protagonist of WIP thingy I have in my head, 52. The title means "Iris."
......Now, back to resting.

Now this is much more "semi-realistic." Unfortunately, I have similar critiques. 8D;
Now, the face shape depends on the character, but I would say that thinning it out a bit would help the image balance. The spacing on the eyes is fine, but the tiny nose makes them seem far-spaced. The neck should thicken near the head. I would add smaller strands of hair here and there, but that is completely up to your taste.
The hand is the most glaring flaw here (though it's honestly not as bad as when we started out, eh?). At this point, it is merely the outline of a hand; I would add definition in the segments of each finger as well as the folds and mounds on the hand.
Overall, the colors are very harmonious and look lovely together. Besides these points, you seem to be improving at a great pace. Keep it up!

Is there any rule of thumb I can use to gauge the thickness a nose should be? :3
Oh god, the hand! Even when I was drawing this, I noticed that was a great fault. I find the fingers are too thin, and lack flesh. More practice is needed~

The color looks good! IT does have kind of a water color effect and you're doing good at semi-realism. Practice on the nose though. Oh and btw, I don't think it was Xiao that's early morning, but Zao (well that just means early).
