Hasn't this whole "photograph-paper-with-text-thing" been done to death by now?

Lol, I guess to some people, but to others its brand new. Just depends on how you look at it. I love the idea.

Okay, let's just forget what I wrote before about this being done to death. Let's look at it from an artistic angle instead.
This whole thing just doesn't "pack a punch", so to speak. As I watch your picture and read the text I can't help but think "So what?". Indeed I can understand the concept of not being enough for one and so forth. But this piece, it just doesn't affect me. If you really want to reach people with you're art you should focus on creating pieces in which others can identify themselves on a higher level, where they can see themselves in the image, or poem, or song, whatever you like. You can still pack the same message, but you can deliver it in a better way.
For example:
Imagine a dark rainy night, a silhouette standing alone, crying under a street light and another person walking away, not looking back. (It's a clichΓ© I know, just an example).
But this example still contains your words and many more, as the observers can choose on how to view it and decide for themselves what it means.(A picture says more than a hundered words my friend ) Also, this ways you will indeed reach people. They will feel what the image emits.
Wereas, your picture as it stands now, doesn't affect me emotionally more than that I suddenly which to lecture you in art, after many years of art and design studies.
There's no fun in looking at a picture that tells you exactly what it means, (which I'm sorry to say, your kinda does). You instantly put the words you already have chosen in the mind of the observer, and so the observer doesn't really have any choice but to think, exactly what you have written.
If you look through the comments here you'll see that not many people have written "Fantastic piece!" or "Great work!", that's because writing stuff on a piece of paper then photographing that paper piece isn't very hard, or very artistic. It's still art, just not very artistic.
This picture reflects you. It reflects you and no one really gets to be a part of your art. That's also why most of the comments also are about you. But that is indeed what it's like as a teenager, most things revolve around yourself.
No, you don't have to give a shit. As you grow older you'll realize all this anyway and you won't want your art to be posted on "teen art" or "da teenz" anymore. Hope you haven't taken offence.

I in no way took this offensively, but I might add that my feedback to your comment might be taken in offence. So please excuse my not-so-nice words.
Yes, I see you're trying to teach me how to make great art, but basically it all comes down to what I like to do. Whether people like it or not, it's my style, it's something I enjoy doing. I'm sorry you don't like it but you don't have to. Your opinion doesn't always mean the most to me.
If you notice, I've only done 3 or so pictures with paper and words. My other photographs are of more (in your perspective) artsy things. So for you to come to one of my very few "paper with words" photographs, and critique it in this type of way isn't the best thing I like to see.
Maybe you should have taken a look at a few of my other things in my gallery before saying shit about how I've run this whole type of art into the ground, because frankly I haven't. Maybe other artists have, I don't know. I don't go around critiquing art more popular than my own and putting it down.
I thank you for your feedback as an "artist". I checked out your gallery. It was nice. Maybe your art will "blow up" some day. Come and see me when it does. I'll still be here.
Have a nice day.

You obviously took offence if you have to answer with such an aggravated tone.
Yes, as I said, you didn't have to give a shit
I completely understand what you're saying. You created what you want to create, and what you like to create, as do I. But that doesn't mean you can't still evolve.
Of course, you should develop this style if you like it, obviously there's lots of people who do.
I did look at your other stuff before I left my comment. I especially like the picture of the "photogenic" bird and the flowers. But my comment was regarding this picture, not the others. So neither should you assume that I'm an narrowminded jerk just because this was the picture I choose to write about.
I just think you should be able to speak your mind. Just because someone has more views and watches that you doesn't mean that you don't have a right to speak or write to them. If you choose not to, that's your choice. I do it often. Though, people with more views and favs and so forth are mostly greater than me at their trade. Therefore, I choose not to comment other than perhaps a small compliment, because then I don't have anything to add, in terms of critique. Good critique is a gift, it shouldn't be thrown back.
Quote from what you wrote: "...and critique it in this type of way isn't the best thing I like to see."
Another testiment to that you took offence. So what do you want out of your membership on DA? Just to show people your works? How about actually learning something as well? I do not know what I wrote that made you feel offended. I agree that the ending to my comment was pretty harsh. But I suppose I really wanted to get an answer out of you, of what you wanted to communicate with your art. That's probably why I stated everything in such a cold way.
Also, it feels like you insinuate that because you have more view than me on some pictures, I shouldn't even speak to you. Which seems weird. So you're basically on a higher plane of hierarchy than me? How does that work? If you judge DA accounts based on how many view and favs their art has, then you are indeed narrowminded.
Just because I didn't enjoy this picture doesn't mean I can't respect it or reflect over it, 'cause I did reflect, obviously. But it seems your answer doesn't hold any answers to my questions. Which were, if you've read between the apparent lines of my earlier words; why you decide to make this image, and why did you choose this medium, and why did you choose to write instead of create a setting? You should be able to explain your image and not just take a defensive position. Saying "because I wanted to" is an answer, yes. But more like dodging a bullet because one did not know the answer in the first place.
Finally, if you're a member on DA then you will have to live with the fact that just as you submit whatever kind of picture you choose, people will also write what they choose. Everyone can write to everyone on DA because that's how the system works. That's called democracy.
Nice day to you too!
