Lovell Telescope is a large steerable radio telescope in England and is part of the Jodrell bank.it was built in the 50s and was the only telescope in the world at the time that could track Sputnik and other USSR space craft.
it still operates now and was tracking a Quasar at the time i tuck this photo.
*the motors that turn the dish were taken from a semi-sunk ww2 battle ship.
*Jodrell bank featured in "hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy"
*Lovell telescope is named after Bernard Lovell.
