Description I took only one photo all weekend and here it is.

I wanted a wide version of the shot i got last time, and given the rough weather i figured tonight would be fine.
Went further back this time so that the ground and roof were closer together to give me that wider aspect..

I dont like so much that it is looking down but theres not much i can do now. it was cold, windy, and i didnt want to wait another 5 minutes for the camera to finish processing before i reshot it. meh. im lazy.

it was certainly a very photogenic pier. worked better when it was overcast but always a pleasure to visit late at night on the bay there....

I love the loss of detail in the water from the long-exposure. I wish I could do this with movie film. The longest exposure possible with the current slate of cameras (Arriflex) that I am using is 1 second.
That's it.
Great photo.

seriously an ancient slr will get you everything you can ever need. you should buy one and have a play. you cant stuff up a long exposure photo theyre all completely unique...

Oh my Nikon F5 will do a programed 30 minute exposure and I can do bulb which can theoretically stay open forever... but I was referring to motion picture cameras. Movie cameras (film not video) can only expose down to 1 frame per second. And when you play the film back it looks as if time is moving super fast. Time-lapse film footage is shot at 1 fps.
In other words there is no way to capture an image like yours with a movie camera. Many have tried, none succeed.
Sorry if I confused you.
If you look into my gallery I have some 30 minute star-spin photos taken with my Nikon F5. I still prefer 35mm to digital.

Thats the spirit!
I know what you mean, although depending on how much I want a shot, I'll occasionally group swarms of mosquitoes in the bashed and stabbed category.

the wind was howling, the waves were crashing through the pilons and there i was getting pelted by rain, salt and sand hiding under the pier in my oilskin. the things i do for an image...

Cameron-Jung In reply to Heidiiiii [2008-03-30 23:09:18 +0000 UTC]

yeah. the seaford pier has a few white lights and a few tungsten ones. i had the white balance set to average the two so i got green pilons and pink lighting no photoshoppin here...

Heidiiiii In reply to Cameron-Jung [2008-03-31 04:51:17 +0000 UTC]

Haha..good thing your photos speak for them self!
Maybe just dont worry bout the borders...your photos r good enough not to need them
but the really fat bottom and top white border are distracting.
