Ah! Every comment is nice, don't worry about any lateness or whatever ^^" Your comment is so nice! It's a shame that for the past half a year I've been experiencing a really heavy artblock... But maybe I'll get over it one time ^^" I certainly hope so, because I really miss drawing, and bringing things to life on paper is magical..
Anyhow, about the picture... First off, I love to try and not draw 'official' photos rather than backstage photos or screenshots... This is a screenshot from the PV of World behind my Wall, because I really loved all those backstage filming..
Bills profile is beautiful, to be very honest, I don't really like his face because it's so... thin.. I like to see a little bit more cheek ^^" But that's just me...
The materials... the paper comes from an old..howdoyoucallit... scrapbook? Because it's used for glueing things on it, and because the book is about 30 years old, the paper has a very nice texture and look..( it also smells really good, but I like the smell of old books)... So, I can't really help you with that... I think you'll have to look around for yourself ^^"
As for the pencils, I probably used a mechanical pencil ( 0.7 mm, HB)to outline the face and all first...Knowing me, I prolly used the same mechanical pencil for most of the drawing XD.... The darker part though, I used Bruynzeel pencils from 5B to 9B.... For smudging I use tissues ( take a corner, role it up in a tiny stick, then bend it once), and cotton sticks ( the ones you clean your ears with. Yes, I'm actually serious). The cotton sticks are good for detailed smudging( the ear), while the tissues are usable for bigger parts ( the face). Highlightened parts are done by using an eraser, then smudging a tiny bit on the edges... all soft lines are made the same way btw; after outlining with mechanical pencil, I smudge inwards, then use the eraser to trace the lines so the hardness gets erased...
Last but not least, when done, I sprayed a tiny layer of hairspray to conserve the drawing and prevent smudging... you might want to be careful about that, exercise on pieces of printing paper first.
....Woah, wall of text, I'm sorry ^^" I hope I didn't offend you in any way, I just like talking about how to draw..

Personally I like that drawing most of all my drawings, mainly because... even though most people dun wanna hear it, Bill HAS a very handsome face...
And I love how the shading turned out...

The composition and details are so perfect. I have seen the original picture before and this is just perfect. Very nicely done, with cool details and good whole look.
