Description hummm....I guess this is how we look like in the future after lands fell. Well, I actually started this piece last July..but it had been sitting in my hard drive for a full year.

all start from scratch & no photo ref. I had a hard time drawing water, so I observed it while painting this. I swear I'm going to paint a male next time(cause this was going to be a male instead a female)!

It's always great to see different interpretations of "water" people, and this design is particularly striking.

The skin seems to have fascinated people so I'm going to give my take on it. If she is under water then her skins problems must be due to shedding it.. she is shedding and evolving out of her original skin, yes? Interesting evolutionary possibilities there.

Wow, that's just something else!! The volumetric underwater lighting is dead-on. The character is quite exotic, too, with all the fins, gills, and tendrils. The mucous film on the skin is just wild looking. Wish she had more extensive translucent webbing of the fingers, though.

Sweet and slimy
I'm unsure why the slime/water is dripping of if the creature is underwater though. Still going to fave - too much good here.

I loveee the concept and although the subject slightly freaks me out, it is very well detailed. I think you conveyed the whole 'fish out of water' thing very well, but I almost think a close-up would've done the concept more justice. Don't get me wrong. I absolutely love the details in the foreground and background, but it took me awhile to realize that it was coming out of what seems like a vertical boundary of water. Maybe I'm just slow though.

I took me a little while of looking before getting that she wasn't wearing some ripped up blue jump suit. The water/air bubble effect is pretty cool but if there was a prop somewhere that showed me the full mouth of the cave rather than, the water just stops, then the pic would be a bit easier to apprecite the water effects.

Wow, first off welcome back!!!!!! Second great detail and concept. It will be interesting to see the direction mankind goes, personally, I think we'll die off before we see anything like this. But I can only hope...I love the ocean.

i dont like it because it is a little too weird for me like wtf is that, i really dont care.

but at the same time i do like it because there is a mysterious story behind it and the art and concept are done very well.

so i guess its a little love/hate. but in the end its great art so FAVORITE!

I actually like it, but I wonder why it's dripping something...when it's underwater? The fish in the background seem to imply that, yet the creature is obviously wet with something else that's dripping.

osandstorrm In reply to Vahx [2008-08-24 15:19:43 +0000 UTC]

Look again: the part of the creature that is dripping and light-colored is *out* of the water. The creature is stepping through some kind of vertical boundary.

Like in Abiss? The details in this art is nuts. But that's what threw me off I couldn't tell if this was under water, out of water, I saw the fish in the BG, the coral, the gloom from the suns rays above. But the water dripping from her made me a bit confused. Maybe some extra highlights on the ground and coral infront of her may make the wall of water more noticable to the stupid folk like myself.

I still like this piece, even +faved it.

i see what your saying. wish it was pronounced a little heavier!

David-Rogers In reply to Vahx [2008-08-24 15:17:16 +0000 UTC]

then that would mean she is secreting a sort of heavy liquid film from all over her body that does not float in water or something. no idea, i was thinking the same thing at first.

buckwolf [2008-08-24 14:54:57 +0000 UTC]

Do you hate it because of its content or the way it turned out? I personally really love it, because the story behind it makes this image so much more shocking and provoking. I just totally love the movement the pose is trying to imply, the struggling, the misery and uncertainty. The colors are great too, very nice contrast between the person as its surroundings. It's as if it's hiding but still stood out.

thats freaky
i quite like how you painted her skin thingy i dont know if thats skin or something els

nice job on the depth and on the contrast as well the lighting is also superb and nice attention to the detailing

cant say much on the anatomy since its not a normal human figure
