Happy #PrideMonth I’m dedicating my painting “A Wish Upon A String” to the #LGBTQ community. I want to talk about something very near and dear to me, EQUALITY. June is #PRIDE month, and it’s important to me to stand with them to fight for equal rights. We are all human and all deserve to be treated equally. This painting is from my show “Sky” and it’s all about love. I put a lot of symbolism in this piece to show that love is universal and free. In Asian tradition, if a person folds one thousand paper cranes, they are granted one wish. There is also this belief that people are connected by a red string of fate that is tied by the gods to their true loves pinky. The string ties the lovers together in destiny and marriage. Regardless of circumstances, time or where in the world they are they are connected. The string might tangle, it might stretch but it will never break. I like to imagine these two lovers got their wish. No matter who we are, who we love, we are meant to be happy and meant to deserve love. ❤️ 🏳️‍🌈👬👭
