One last WiP for this one.. I'm working on some other things simultaneously, hence the rather slow process.I've uploaded a very (!) short video on Youtube of me painting away on this. The video was mostly a test and not a serious project; I just set up the camera for a short session.

Someone told me that they thought it looked almost like the vid was speeded up, but that's not the case, haha. I work fast sometimes and slow other times. I guess this was the former.

I liked so much the video. Always I like to see the artists in action, is very interesting to see some details like the way as you take the brushes, technique, etc.

If the video was fantastic, it was thanks to your help with Adobe Premiere; I would never have had the time to read through books about the software to acquaint myself with it. I'm glad to have learnt something new in a day as well - just perfect. So thank you for that!
Hehe, I can be fast when I want to.. ;D Although you've seen me paint considerably slower.
I need to get over the uninspired phase I'm in the middle of atm, but hopefully I'll be able to finish this painting soon.

Seriously. I actually love watching these things. The whole process fascinates me and any chance to watch someone in the process of creating is tantamount to seeing AVATAR in 3-D or something.

I'm glad to hear that you liked the video - I hesitated quite a bit before uploading, since I didn't think it would be even remotely interesting for anyone to watch.
I had to sit in a rather cramped position, sort of leaning over the tripod; but if I can manage to set up the camera a bit better, maybe I could video a longer session of another painting where I make more progress. ^^

I have a few questions about this fabulous painting. Are you using tube watercolor paints? Cause I just bought them to try out watercolor. I would really appreciate some tips. Did you start with the background and did you wet the paper first? And how did you manage to get the owl to touch the background so cleanly? The hair on its neck.. Please explain your process as much as you can.

I'm almost exclusively using pans.
It would be close to impossible to explain the whole process in mere words without writing a short novel, but I went about this painting the same way as I did this portrait here [link] , applying the same principles.
I hope you can get some tips from the tutorial and that you'll find it helpful.

Oh yes, I now remember having read this tutorial, but I wasnΒ΄t paying much attention back then. Got some useful tips, I guess IΒ΄ll search for more information on youtube to actually see it all done. About that masking tape and stretching the paper etc. So thanks much! Very well done.
