Description
Been replaying Shantae on VC, and there was a piece of dialogue about needing winterwear or some such. So what would that look like? How about some swampwear, some desertwear?pehesse.tumblr.com/post/580749β¦

I do love the clever coloration on the pants, boots, and scarf for Shantae's winterwear. Β I also like the asymetrical sleeves on the forest Shantae, as well as the hole for her hair. Β The third one is less great but I still like the thing overall.

Good work, good joke on the idea but I really have to criticize the third choice (and the second, but only a little: she should have let the shirt and sleeves down plus wear a net/veil around her head, mosquitoes are nasty). It is really more beach/coastal clothing (and it would be very good choice for that!) than desert clothing.
While it may be a bit stereotypical, the appropriate clothes for the desert would be something like what Bedouin women wear, full-body dresses that cover them completely while being loose, as well as using a veil or otherwise covering their face. They are a peoples that adopted very well the to the desert and their choice of clothing is no accident.
Black (or blue, or really any color) may seem counterintuitive, but the quality of the cloth and how it reacts to sweat is more important than the color. You want to have thin, porous layers, so there is a wet sweaty layer that helps you keep cool while there are enough layers that the sweat evaporates slowly to prevent too much fluid loss. You do not want bare skin, that's just asking for a sunburn. Veils should be in front of the eyes to prevent sun blindness due to reflected light off the sand. Funnily enough, I thought that sandals would be a poor choice but it is something that Bedouins actually wear.

True - I didn't think of that one because the underwater time in the original Shantae is quite limited if I remember correctly... but it's true it was a big(ger) part of RR, so maybe I'll come back to it
