Yeah, I completely agree! I have only ever obtained one shiny Rowlet, and that was through an egg. Getting a shiny starter Rowlet is a pain...

I had hoped to get a female shiny starter, but both my shiny Litten and Popplio hatched out boys. TwT I still love them to bits and pieces though.

Mine is a Dartrix as well! Usually when I hatch/catch a shiny I immediately put them on my team so they can level up and evolve.

I didn't bother trying to hatch eggs until I got the shiny charm. Though my first shiny(a Pichu) was from an SOS chain, before I got the shiny charm.
Though even with the shiny charm my Litten took 800+ eggs. Right after Litten I hatched Rowlet and Popplio, both took under 100 eggs.

I understand, however I have honestly not obtained the shiny charm yet, since I haven't, well, 'caught them all'. That's why I didn't wait until I got it. I don't even have all the available Pokémon in my Pokébank, how sad ^^''
My very first shiny was a random encounter in a cave (a zubat) in Pokémon Y (though I might have encountered another in a earlier game, I just can't remember it). My first shiny in Pokémon Moon was a lillipup (another random encounter).
Whoa, that's a lot of eggs! I think my shiny Rowlet took about 105 eggs (still without the shiny charm, however I used the masuda method).

Well, in Sun and Moon you only need to finish your regional dex to get a shiny charm. :3
My first random encounter shiny Pokemon was a Spearow, funny enough I ran into it when I was looking for a growlithe to SOS shiny chain.
Though my first ever shiny was in X and Y when I hatched a shiny Riolu without a shiny charm.

I still have the ones in Sun and Moon. Unfortunately, I don't have Pokemon Bank, so my XY and ORAS shinies are still in their original games. :/
I don't remember what gender my Riolu was, but I did evolve them. I'm not super into Gengar's shiny, but its mega is pretty cool.

I'm not into Gengar's shiny form either, but back then I didn't know how he would look (I wanted to surprise myself). He practically looks normal, but still, a shiny is a shiny. Indeed, the mega form is cool ;3

That is a good thing to do. I also look them up now, so that I don't spend countless hours on shiny-hunting a Pokémon I won't like the looks of.
