Description The Süleymaniye Mosque, built on the order of Sultan Süleyman (Süleyman the Magnificent), was fortunate to be able to draw on the talents of the architectural genius of Mimar Sinan. The construction work began in 1550 and the mosque was finished in 1557.

This is an amazing shot Canan and the wiki article so informative. It is so very interesting that after so many set backs with damages and restorations along the way from a variety of sources it is still standing today in all of it's magnificence. Such a rich history as well.
