Hahahaha, hey there, hun!! And thank you so much!! I think I want to make more dark, dark pieces like this, lol.

The eyelashes. o.o; Love the little highlights you put in the forelock and the eye, but the eyelashes completely steal the show for me. XD Gorgeous composition too, with the equine taking up the left side and the little fairy leading in from the right. I wonder how it would look reversed, with the viewer's eye being led to the horse. Anyway, lovely picture...dark but not too dark, which is always tricky with the wide range of monitors out there. o.o;

Awwww, thank you very much!! I was actually very worried when I first started drawing in the eyelashes that they weren't going to come out how I was imagining them, lmao. I'm so glad that you love them!
Hmmm, I could certainly flip this picture the other way to see how it would look, hehe. I'm always scared to just flip my art like that because, for some reason, like, every flaw in my picture that I didn't see before, just pops right out at me, lmao. Mostly in anatomy corrections, lol.
I've already had one person say it was too dark [for their liking] but the point was to only barely be able to see her, hehe. But yes, just between my two totally different "types" of monitors that I am using, I see a difference in my picture, hehe. I use a really old, giant "CRT" (old-fashioned, basically) monitor as my "main" screen and a 32" flat LCD actual TV as my "secondary" screen.
I made the art piece using my old CRT screen and once I set it to be used as my desktop picture, it shows up on both screens and I can see that it looks a little brighter on the TV and I can see my details better (and my flaws better, hehe). I was really close to posting a "gamma correction test image" in my Artist's Comments to at least help in getting others to view it better, but I figured it would get too technical for some and the ones that would already understand what that was have already gone through and adjusted theirs. I need a new monitor BAD, lol. "Hey, Mike, my love! Whatchya doing?" Hehehe

I was actually surprised that my picture didn't look off or lob-sided to me after I flipped it, hehe. Yay!!
Yeah, my boyfriend uses an LCD computer monitor and for a few months, we swapped entire viewing set-ups (so he was then using the dual TV with CRT combo) and I would make my art on the LCD screen. I did enjoy how nice my art would look on my screen, but I know that the CRT would lose some of the details. I once loaded up my "Forest Ruler" piece on my boss's computer at work and that's not even that dark of a piece, but on her ancient CRT, it was literally loading up black!!
Here you go! The stripes should blend at the value 2.2 -- [link]

I'm so glad that you find that useful! I always have to majorly adjust this CRT every time I install my operating system because it's default gamma/color settings are extremely dark, lol.
By the way, I'm not sure what is different about both our TV and the LCD comp monitor because we can look at them from actually a really large angle range and the colors look fine. The old LCD screen of the laptop we have is certainly a different story, lmao.

My guess would be that the monitor is less prone to move...a laptop's screen is set at a lower angle to the viewer's eye than the monitor of a home computer and the laptop's screen is much more prone to moving, even accidentally.
I'll have to try out the new LCD monitor that came with my computer, since that won't move around so much as a laptop will. I think my beef with them is how everything looks...over-waxed, I guess, on the screen. LCD's have that extra sheen going on that irritate me when I'm trying to paint...I like the flat colors of the CRT in that respect.

I noticed that when my boyfriend and I were shopping for this TV we have, the LCD ones have a "matte" finish to the screen, but the plasma TVs pretty much all had the glossy screens, so those would pick up every tiny bit of reflecting light. Our TV doesn't get glares to it. I have to place lamps strategically so I don't get a glare on my CRT, though, lmao.
With my bf's LCD comp monitor (also the matte finish), it currently sits across the room and at a really extreme angle if I look at it from where I am sitting. Yet, I still see the screen just fine, actually.

Hmm, well, I can't say my experience with them has been the best. When I first started using a laptop, it was a rather old one. xD Painted some quick picture of my character on there, transferred it to the CRT, and..."Why is she mustard?!?!" ensued. I've checked and my CRT is calibrated quite nicely, but for some reason my brand-new laptop just adds this...extra lightness that I really don't like. And my CRT isn't exactly dim. The poor thing's cranking out more than it probably should. XD Eh, just a finicky little issue of mine. I've heard that Apple's actually made a monitor that's supposed to be "artist friendly" and LCD...but it costs a lot of green stuff. So apparently I'm not the only one with this beef, but Apple is sadly mistaken if they think something so small a nuance will get me to transfer from Windows. XD

HAHAHA, yeah, I refuse to buy Apple products because of the arm and a leg they require. Sorry, I'm kinda sentimental about both my arms and both legs, LMAO. And yeah, that "artist friendly" monitor better do more than just adjust your colors right somehow for it to cost a ton, lmao.

Oh yeah...now if they sold a free-standing LCD monitor that was compatible with either platform. Me thinks that would be quite nice if it didn't cost something like, oh say, my firstborn child. o.o;

*blush* Thank you so very much!! And I would have to say it's mostly a little of both of those, hehe. It started out as a love for horses and had a mother that raised me to be very creative and eventually artistic, took as many art classes I could sign up for back in high school. I have plans to go to college someday, but things just aren't working out and probably won't for a couple more years, . So, instead, the last 2+ years, I'd say now, I've been working on my artwork just in my spare hours. I was still always working in colored pencils and it wasn't until the last year or so that I got my first tablet did I discover the sheer pleasure of digital artwork, hehehe. With every new piece I would start on (and still do), I would look to try something new, . I would like to believe that I've shown some kind of improvement over the past year+, It's been a wonderful and happy journey and I can't wait to see what I can come up with in 6 months to a year from now!!

your welcome
at least it's light enough that you can make out the key point of Evipona's face, right?
