i think its the shitty, half assed backgrounds that kill my pictures.anywho, i decided to practice and i came out with this. i like how the shade in the hair looks, but i dont think the style quite matches with the rest of the shading.
i would love it if you guys could leave some critique telling me what i can improve on, what would look better, friendly advice, etc. etc.

I am SO jealous! I tried drawing one of my characters in realism like that, and it totally failed. But you did an awesome job with it!! And I don't think the background is shitty, I think it's rather nice!

I think it looks nice, and the background fits it pretty well. You don't typically want too much of a flashy background, because it takes away from the main focus of the picture, in my opinion. I also think your shading looks great too
